A mix of relaxation and work

Actually there was only 90 minutes of relaxation during my weekly massage this morning.   Before and after I continued to work online for our trip to Europe.  I actually even gave up my beach walk.  I really am trying to wrap things up so that I can have at least three ( I had hoped for 4 ) weeks off just relaxing and reading, etc. before we start our trek North. Staying inside has been easy due to the unusually cooler temps for this time of year and the excessive wind.

This is only one half of the RV, the other side is my computer and eating table piled high with papers.

I imagine some people just get on a plane and walk around wherever they land without a plan.  We only have so many days in a certain area and there is no guarantee that we will ever get back there again.  There are so many other new places in the world that we want to explore.  Likely we are overthinking it but I want to get there and just be able to soak up the ambience of where we are.  Of course knowing the must sees are also important.  We also both really want to have  a good amount of time to just wonder about and discover things on our own.

What is also taking a great deal of time is researching trains between cities and then booking them as well as a very few tours.  Of course I have to coordinate the train departures and arrivals with check out and check in of our various Airbnb or VRBO accommodations.

So how do you travel?  How do you prepare for a trip?  I am thinking more of a major trip than a weekend away, something overseas.

Another question, now that I have an iPhone, are there any must have apps that will be of help?

Mostly we travel in the rv so np planing needed, can’t help you there, a few cruises we have taken and enjoy those almost as much as rv ing. The Map Me app is very handy free mapping and guidance without the internet once you download the local maps to where you will be.

  2. First off, where are you traveling to. Then what month? As an example in Holland there are beautiful spring flower displays at the growers. Fields upon fields of vibrant colours of tulips etc. Every area in Europe has something special. We have traveled full-time for over 12 years. Maybe we can be of some help.

We will mostly be in Italy the last two weeks of May. I know what is happening where we are going and where and what the weather should be but I am just concerned that I am putting too much time into the details of tours and things to see, etc. However we may never be back this way so I figure it is worth the time to pick the best of what we can see when we are there.

I am trying to get Colin involved. At least he is always there foe me to ask questions like should we or should we not.

  5. Here at home, we don’t plan much. We hope in the rv and take off. When we fly/stay, we plan pretty heavily like our trip last week to the Riviera Maya.

Planning is half the fun wondering what you’ll find and where you’ll stay.

I agree that planning is part of the trip ( especially on a trip to Europe ) anticipating where you might go, etc. We will do doing more RV travel this fall and plan to just go buy the seat of our pants 🙂
