A long and cold day

We were fortunate in that the forecast never happened and we awoke to just a light dusting of snow on the vehicles and 27F/-3C.   But it was still cold 🙁

Who in their right mind is cutting grass ( that does not need to be cut ) at 8AM when it is -3C?   We were off, heading North.

Nothing but snow in them there mountains.

Colin was only wearing one layer of fleece while I had on two layers as well as a heavy fleece blanket.

There were areas that we had snow along the side of the road.

Almost a winter wonderland.

Usually we take Hwy 93 thru Twin Falls and back to I84 but today we decided to take 30 West thru some small and picturesque towns for about 40 miles before connecting with I84.

My first sign of spring.

The hay has to be moved to another area.

Such a beautiful area with lots of natural falls.

Back on I84.  Idaho is a lovely picturesque state to drive through.

We needed to refuel.  In fact we needed to do so earlier than normal.  Perhaps fighting all the wind as we did today drained the tank sooner than expected.  Usually we can get into Oregon before refueling but not today.  So we checked out a few places just before and in Boise.  The reasonably priced diesel @ 3.199 per gallon were at stations that we could not get into.  So we were forced to deal with a truck stop and we did check out two before we stopped.  We have never ever paid 3.559 per gallon in over twenty years of RVing.  Sadly the difference of .36 cents per liter times the number of liters we took on resulted in a difference of $28.32US.  Something is very wrong in our world right now.  By the way Colin spoke with the manager of the station we fueled up at and he told us that there is a scheduled .50 cent increase per gallon of regular fuel coming in two weeks 😯

After a very long day of driving from 8:15AM to 5:30PM ( including a few breaks and fuel stop )  we finally stopped right on the edge of the Idaho/Oregon border at the Visitor Welcome Rest Area which does have fast free wifi.  We put in 431 miles today.  We chose to spend more time on the Isla and do a longer run just before we get home.  After all, what would we do in this cold weather?  In all honesty is it only 57F outside as I write this.

This is the first time we have ever seen any other RVs here.  We usually are in the last spot where the red truck and RV are but last year a semi stopped right beside our bedroom window and I could not sleep.  Fortunately with the bus beside us we will have no noise.  If you look closely you will see that the bus is towing a trailer and behind that a small truck.

Looking forward to a quiet and peaceful evening.  Who knows what tomorrow will bring.  Stay tuned.  We are almost home 😀

Pretty trees, I’m sure it was nice to get some spring colors after driving through all the snowy landscape.

My goodness, Contessa, the photos you took of the snowy mountain range are beautiful and look like some of the scenes out of the old movie “Dr. Zhivago” about the Russian Revolution. The scenery and music (Lara’s Song) out of that movie are something you can’t forget.

Still moving right along, wish we had 56 degrees right now would feel much warmer than our 35.

The snowy pictures are so nice. I hope today goes smoothly.

  5. Wait until you get home, gas has sky rocketed in BC. Right now regular gasoline is 141.9 here (was 144.9 a few days ago) and in Vancouver it hit $2 a litre the other day. Bloody hell

The snow makes for incredible pictures but if I don’t see any, I’m happy. I am not looking forward to the fuel prices this summer. They are just going up and up. Safe travels.

Ely to Twin Falls is one of our favorite drives. The snow on the mountains is beautiful as long as it stays off the road. Safe travels!

We always take that Highway 30 bypass. That area is famous for it’s trout and we always find a restaurant featuring it! Delicious!

Who has tine to stop for a meal? Oh right, you only do a few hundred miles per day. Good to know for next time.

Luckily for the hounds and I things are warming up. I was sick of freezing weather this winter. It must be hard to leave that nice beach in Mexico and find cold temperatures as you get closer to home.

Yes quite the shock to the system to go from the heat to the cold. I was saying to Colin today that our girls would have been so unhappy

The lawn mower?..Must be related to the idiot “lady”?…not next door to me..She just spent 4 hrs mowing her yard…No grass…She spends up to 8hrs in the spring and summer…
That MCI 7 next to you looks like the same rig in your next post…..
The MCI coaches are very sweet rides, I worked for Grayline tours in Seattle a long time ago…MC 7’s and 9’s are just fun to drive….
If I was to do it all over again I may have wanted to convert one of those instead of my Winnebago…Ah..just dreaming…..
