Real time update

Thanks to all who are concerned about my not posting.  We left Roma last Sunday, May 20th and took a taxi to our Airbnb here in Florence.  Transportation from the train station is somewhat complicated and it was definitely too far to walk pulling our luggage.  This is the link to our accommodation in Firenze.  However the location is not quite as written up, it is not in Centro Historico but further out.  In fact the three times we took a taxi the drivers had to Goggle the address as they had no idea where it was.  The host had no idea how the transit system in the area worked and that took a bit to sort out but it did make the walking part easier once we got to Centro.  It is a lovely apartment and quiet but I would have preferred to spend more money per night and be closer in.

The temperatures have warmed up, in fact it went from one extreme to the other, 33C and humidity.  We managed to see most everything we wanted to in Rome but not quite all that we had hoped to see here in Firenze, more on that later.  The days seem to be flying past and I am taking more time to live in the moment and to relax when I am not actually ‘doing’.  It takes anywhere from 2 – 4 hours ( and sometimes longer ) to write a post and I just can’t keep up and was feeling a pressure to post.  Not to worry, I will write about each and every single day when I can.  It might or might not be while here in Europe.

You will see a post when you see a post.  Yesterday, we had the most wonderful day touring Cinque Terre, certainly one of the highlights of the trip to date.  You are going to love the photos.

Tomorrow, May 31st we leave Florence for our next destination.  Any guesses as to where it might be 😎

Nice to hear from , Blogging does take up quite a bit of your day. Don’t let blogging get in the way of enjoying your life. If it feels like a chore time to slack off and post when you feel like it.

Hi Contessa. Definitely live in the moment and do the posting later. I myself am in Barcelona at the moment and find myself wiped out after wandering around and such all day.

Contessa, we all love you and don’t want you to have the pressure of doing these posts in the middle of recuperating from your injuries and, at the same time, attempting to fulfill the potential of your trip to Italy. I’ve been through this before in Germany and know that it takes a lot to loosen up in the morning from the soreness and get going and pacing yourself. It can be done with full concentration on yourself, no pressure, and good rest breaks with a little vino and food. Remember, Italy will always be there to return to; you need not race to see everything. Taxis helped my situation quite a bit and worth every penny. Even a spa treatment helped release the tension from the fall.

Contessa, I apologize – you are correct – “taking more time to live in the moment” as you should as it is your vacation. Continued traveling mercies and stay well – that was my concern.
    Hugs to you.

  6. Glad you are living in the moment – sometimes blog writing can be a burden!

When we were in the middle of traveling through Mexico I tried to post every day but didn’t always succeed. Sometimes I posted twice a day and sometimes missed a day or three, I didn’t let it bother me. I never spent more that a half hour on each post and admittedly, it showed. Some of the second posts in a day were because I forgot to mention something. I pretty much just banged them out as I thought of stuff and did little editing. And it showed. But on the whole, I think your readers would be happy with just a note and a couple of anecdotes whenever you can do it. We (at least I) have few expectations. I just enjoy keeping track of people. Don’t spend 4 hours to make it “perfect”, that 4 hours could be far better spent!
