A full first day

Thank you to those that took a moment to leave a comment on my last post.  It really means a lot and encourages to me to continue.  Today was a busy day and I didn’t get many photos as I was too busy just doing things.

When we got up at 7AM we noticed this cat sleeping on a chair next door.  Then at our next glance outside we see it drinking from the water container Ismael used to water our plants with while we were away.

Definitely a Siamese and it had on a collar.  Several hours later I discovered that it belongs to our neighbors.  It is basically  an outdoor cat that is allowed to roam free day and night and it has been using our empty site as its play and litter area.

By 8:10AM Colin and Ismael were at our bodega and loaded these two trucks to the brim with our stuff.  It did not take long for it all to be unloaded.

The two drivers along with Colin and Ismael were also able to move Colin’s piece of log art into the proper position.

Ismael took off to RV2 to wash an RV as he had been requested to.  Meanwhile we power washed all of the stuff.  Hmm we do have a lot of stuff…..mostly chairs.

Once again someone parked their vehicle on our patio and dripped oil onto the painted area. Colin was able to get most of it off.   However we did have some bare spots and lost a bit more paint because of the power washer.  Guess we will be doing some painting in the next little while.  But the patio looks much better and I was able to strategically cover the bare spots with carpet.

We took a wee break and drove over to take in our laundry.  Lots of new things happening here on the Isla.  Sorry but I forgot to bring my camera.  Next time, I promise 🙂

Ismael was free by 2PM and he and Colin got the dust screen hung. So very important as it really does decrease the dust we get from passing vehicles, ATV’s and horses.  This is always our priority.  While waiting for Ismael we did get a lot done in our exterior set up.

Looks like the Tecate truck got stuck on the beach.  But what was it doing on the beach?

We arrived yesterday and today two other RV’s ( Ferne and 15 minutes later, Diane and Pierre ) arrived.  So we had an impromptu happy hour at Jose’s and Pat’s.  Several new people here in the park this winter.

It was a long day with a fun ending at the happy hour but soon the bugs began to nip.  Tomorrow is yet another day with a blank canvas.  We shall have to see how we fill it.

    Hi Colin and Contessa

We are right behind you , crossing the border in the morning. We appreciate your road reports. So very helpful.

We know you from Lo de Marcos in 2004 and 2005. We still go there for the winter.

Hopefully one day our paths will cross again.

Thanks again for the very detailed road reports.

How lovely to hear from you Sandra and to know that you are following my blog. YOu never know we may meet again. Yu mught even decide to stop in here on the way South or North one year. The Isla is so very different than Lo de Marcos.

Nice that you are getting things all set up and back together again. And to wrap up with a nice Happy Hour makes it wonderful.

Boy our site looks like we’re staying for the night and yours looks like you live there…lovely! Why is it that we expect dog owners to keep their dogs on their site and clean up after them and cat owners think they shouldn’t have any rules…just plain unmannerly and rude. A hose will tell the cat to stay off your site and not hunt the birds.

Our site is still under ‘construction’ so to speak. The happy hour was at the neighbors at the other end. We do love our site here and once it is fully set up it is our home. We just like to be comfy here.

I caught the cat doing its business later and I threw gravel at it. Will get the hose set up today. I had to tell the guy that I did not appreciate his dog wandering around our site. I might have to put up our dog fence to keep his critters out.

I agree with Kathryn. I don’t wish to start a diatribe against cats and their owners but cats are predatory in nature and do impact certain bird species. Would be a shame to lose the enjoyment of watching birds due to a cat doing its thing.

I keep telling myself that they are only here until January 2nd, over and over and over 🙂 Did I mention that he smokes and has a huge speaker> You can see it in the left corner of the power washing shot!

Looks like you’ll be all set up again soon. Welcome to your winter paradise. As for the cat, well a spray bottle will help…

Happy your there! Very rude of the cat owner. Stay calm and drink wine… Cheers!

I know that your cat would never be like that 🙂 Wish you were here again to share that bottle of wine with me. Oh the memories we have.

It’s always a lot of work when you first arrive at your winter home, but oh so enjoyable once you are able to sit back and appreciate it. But the cat and the car parked in your space would be so annoying!

    Welcome home!
Looking forward to your posts and new adventures…have fun.

Thanks you two. Too bad you can’t make it down next year but there is always the next year. I think that you have way more adventures than I ever will.

We so love your blog and pictures. Been R.V.’ing in Mexico for 15 years and are now sidelined with health issues. BUT we know we can go every year because we travel with you & Colin. You pretty much follow all our old routes through the U.S. and Mexico so we feel we are right up there in the driver and passenger seat as we go. Can’t wait to get OUR chairs out and get the flowers going . You’re doing all the work but we are going to be in imaginary chairs on the beach right beside you on your first happy hour. p.s. We drink white wine (chilled).

    • contessa says:

Joan I am so happy to have you along and now that I know how much this means to you I will attempt to do a better job. Love how you said ‘our chairs’ cuz I have two set aside with a nice view of the beach for you. But lets not get into the flowers yet. Yup, most of them have died because of the salt air and there is a lot of work ahead for me. Are you sure you don’t want to fly down and give me a hand?

  11. Glad to see you’re back. Happy hour made gave me envy! Say hello to all.

Once again u guys r busy, busy!

  13. Ah, the winter bunch is arriving, maybe one day we will be joining them (although probably not in an RV but with a truck, Buddy and rent an apartment/house for a couple of months). Lots of set up but that way your home is truly comfortable for the winter
