Nasty jellyfish on the beach. Fortunately we don’t have them very often.
I believe that these are Portuguese Man of War.
On our return we saw the usual turkey vultures but that hawk was a surprising addition to the flock.
The hawk was not welcomed to the feast of the sting ray. He eventually flew away.
There is a squatter right next to RV2. RV on the left, another RV under a palapa and about mid shot there is the squatter. That is his patio to the right of the photo.
Close up. I have heard that he is somewhat spaced out on ?? and that he is being paid to squat on the land for at least a year.

There is so much I do not know about Mexico! Why would someone pay HIM to squat on this land? In the history of the US, we had “homesteading,” when someone would stake out boundaries of land for farming, and after about three years, that person could stake a claim for ownership of the land in the Federal Land Office.
Looks like the shanty the squatter lives in wouldn’t even keep rain off of him.
It’s complicated and no one here really understands it. Actually his home is much better than others here back in the colonia.
That bird is a creasted caracara. We see them in FL too.
Thanks Sally. Great to know about this bird.
Nice to see some familiar sights from the beach and local areas, keep enjoying the sunshine there.
Life is good here as always. Sure would be nice if you both could get your RV down here again.
I agree about the caracara. The small Portuguese Man O War has Very long tentacles. I didn’t give enough space to one while swimming. Feels like a deep paper cut. Took 2 Margaritas to recover from the pain.
Gail, I agree about the margaritas after being stung. As a believer in preventative medicine how about a couple of those prior to swimming. Got all bases covered then!!! Lol
Alan
You two are a hoot! And when I was young, my mother told me to pour vinegar on the stings; um um, wish I had you two around then to give advice! LOL!
As a drunken swimmer, I might run into more.
LOL!!
You are all so fun 🙂
🙂
Ouch but yay to the margaritas. Good to know from a health point of view.
That sting happened at Mazatlan years ago. It was in May, and there were a lot of them in the water. A beach vendor could take advantage of this by selling vinegar or meat tenderizer to sting victims. Of course, poolside bars are happy to provide margaritas.
…not sure I should even say this, but I understand that there is always a male out there willing to pee on your sting. A myth that says that the urine will help the pain:)
