But first I started the day with my first massage of the season. Sofia had to go to Mexico City to see her family so yesterday was the first day we connected. I really needed that massage. How can 90 minutes go by so fast?
A posada has a very different meaning than how it is being used here on Stone Island. In past years a restaurant used to sell tickets to attend their posada. Basically it is really a party with a band. Fourteen years ago we witnessed true posadas while RVing in Acapulco. We saw Mexican families going from home to home and asking for lodging as they searched for Joseph and Mary. Some were invited inside as space allowed and others sat outside the entrance in rented chairs. Sometimes they were offered refreshments, other times they prayed. One definition I found explained it as….a Christmas festival originating in Latin America that dramatizes the search of Joseph and Mary for lodging. For some reason here it is merely an excuse for a party. I preferred the Acapulco example. It truly humbled one to the meaning of the season. However that did not stop us from having a good time last night.
Somehow I missed a photo of the full five or six food tables. Most of the food was gone by the time this huge dorado was brought over by El Velero, cooked in the local zarandeado style. The party was held in the parking lot at RV2 which is larger than RV1 plus it has a small common area. David the owner of Tres Amigos provided the tables, chairs and the excellent band. We all brought food for a huge pot luck dinner.
We were a huge crowd, certainly more than the two RV parks combined. I saw some people from all over the Isla.
The sunset from the RV2 perspective.
A plywood dance floor was nailed into the ground and Pierre and Diane were the stars of the night. Neither Colin nor I were feeling the music last night. We have danced to this band three other times and loved them but one band member was missing last night and it just felt off to us. We still managed to enjoy several dances.
I did my annual dance with Ismael, in the white hat. I also had a dance with Ubaldo later.
I’m doing the twist with Pierre. It was a fun party.

Looks like s fun time , always lots of fun parties there glad you enjoyed it.
Honestly sometimes, too many fun parties. We don’t do a happy hour every night but do attend the major events.
WOW, that is some party. So glad you can enjoy with friends.
A once per year event. Now that both RV1 and RV2 are so full we don’t often get together as much as we did in the past. It certainly was a fun evening.
I also prefer the Acapulco tradition but it did look like a fun time … as did your massage 🙂
Ahh,the massage,to be repeated Monday. I really needed it as I will the next :).
