How we spent our Christmas

I can’t be sure but this was taken either the 23rd or 24th.  We had a lovely evening together the 24th and watched a Christmas movie as we dined on Greek food.

Christmas morning started over at Bob and Marjorie’s.

They had invited everyone from RV1 over for a very special drink made of hot chocolate and peppermint snaps with whipped cream topped with cinnamon.   It really tasted like Christmas.  Bob called it a ‘Polar Bear’!

A very fun way to start Christmas Day.  Unlike everyone else in their festive reds we chose green 🙂

Back home to relax and open the gifts that Santa had brought.

We had fun treating each other to some fun things. We bought each other a parrot to hang under the palapa  ( great minds think alike ) from the mercardo as well as a few other things.  I really love my new water glass.  As you can see I cheated and ordered Colin some fun socks before we got here.

Colin got me two more Mexican sundresses while I got him yet another shirt and a new cap.

Within the park we sometimes exchange small gifts, home baking or just a card.  Not everyone participates  ( this is something that started several years ago ) but it is fun to drop off something to your neighbors.

It was an overcast day but several came to the beach. We have seen it busier other years.  We love our Christmas Day beach stroll.

The greatest gift of all came from Mother Nature.  As we were sitting with Diane and Pierre ( the only other couple who stayed in the park for Christmas dinner ) we were treated to the most wonderful sunset we have seen this year.

You can just make out a cruise ship leaving.

Suddenly the sky was transformed.

We chose to stay home and enjoy a special meal for the two of us with a few of my favorite Christmas casseroles, scalloped carrots topped with stuffing and potatoes Romanoff.

I hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas.

LOOKS AS IF YOU HAD A FUN TIME WITH FRIENDS THEN QUIET TIME WITH EACH OTHER. THE BEST OF TWO WORLDS. HAPPY BOXING DAY.

It was the best of both worlds. Boxing Day was spent doing absolutely nothing but reading for me and playing guitar for Colin.

What fun socks Colin received 🙂 And I’m guessing the Hawkins Cheezies came from home. Beautiful sunset and a great way to spend Christmas Day!

The socks are fun but I might have gone overboard this year. There is a fellow here who loves Cheezies more that anything and this was the year that folks chose to haul down Cheezies.

I’m going to look for those casseroles on line. They look really good.
It surely is a beautiful area you spend the winter in.

We never got warm enough in Arizona or California which is why we decided to head south to Mexico. Safe travels as you leave for the US SW.

Sounds like a fun day on the Isla enjoying the good weather and Christmas spirit with friends.

Wow! Blown away by those sunset pictures!

  6. Wish we were there but you can’t be everywhere all the time. Your casseroles look fantastic! What would Christmas be without Cheezies! Great memories!

  7. That looked like you had an amazing Christmas.
Just seeing those pictures makes me feel warmer.
    Cute gift ideas.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It’s about time.

  8. Love your gift exchange, especially the parrots! Your Palapa is big enough for 2 lol. Lovely weather, so nice for Christmas and that sunset!

    Hola Contessa and Colin,

Great to hear from you! There have been some changes in my life the past year. I found a terrific Canadian chick who loves travel as much as I do and has a nice home in the jungles of Cancun. So, as a benefit of our relationship, I have become a snowbirder – never thought that would happen! From November to end of March, we go south. The other months, we stay in my townhouse in Langley and enjoy life there. If there is a cool place to stay on the Isla, we may hop down for a week or two sometime. I still have fond memories of my last visit with you!

Thanks for the great photos and your always wonderful to read blog.

All the best to you for the Holiday Season!
    Hugh and (surprise chick) :o)

Lovely to hear from you Hugh and all of your news. If you and Surprise Chick decide to come visit let us know. Lots of places to rent here on the Isla.
