Yesterday we left Tres Amigos RV Park to take in the laundry, maybe two miles away. As we drove this blog wrote itself 😀
Cute little three wheeler waiting for service at one of the many local mechanics. We had to detour around three stopped people movers and down a few side roads to come upon this fun thing. Worth the detour.
But then we did got stuck behind a slow moving people mover aka a tractor pulling a large wagon of people often on a day trip from Mazatlan.
On the way back from the lavenderia we got stuck behind a horse drawn taxi aka as a mini sightseeing mode of transport. There are three of these horse drawn wagons but only one has a driver who also sings. One has to be careful not to drive through the horse manure.
We stopped to pick up a garafon of water, 5 litres. There is water delivery to the RV Park but we prefer to use a different company. That’s when the horses went past, mere millimeters from the Jeep.
We had to wait while this people mover passed the horses and then we got in line behind the horse taxi and the horses and riders. Moving along at a slow pace we finally got to the turn off we needed.
This traffic jam was waiting for us at the entrance to the RV Park. Further behind the parked bus there is a crowd of visitors in the middle of the road, boarding a different people mover. Looks like a car is waiting to pass. Good thing we were turning right at this point.
So much action in such a short drive 😎 Fortunately the Isla only gets this busy at this time of year and during Easter.
The MS Eurodam/Holland America, had no trouble slipping out the shipping channel later in the afternoon. No traffic jams on the water.
This was Wednesday’s sunset.

So different when we were there 10 years ago now. this not the way we enjoyed the quiet times there.
I guess the is progress and tourism for the Isla.
We do still have many quiet times and mostly everyday. It is more difficult during holiday times. However the best part is that most everyone leaves before sunset and the mornings are tourist free until 10ish. Lots of time to enjoy the peace and beauty of the Isla.
What fun! I love reading your blog about Isla and how you share daily life there.
Thank you. I do try to make the Isla come alive for others.
Wow, that was a challenge getting around and through town but what fun photos you have shared with all of us. Thank you.
Almost the New Year so wishing you a very Happy New Year
Feliz Ano Nuevo to you and Rex as well. A challenge but really an enjoyable time.
Getting busier and busier in all the “used to be quiet” areas. You got a better road but that brings more people to the Isla. Now that the highway from Durango is easy to travel the north end of Mazatlan has exploded with huge housing developments. Pave paradise and put up a parking lot! The sad thing here is the loss of wildlife habitat. Our chachalacas are sad and lost.
You have explained it perfectly. Some here on the Isla are happy about the increase in tourism and others feel the opposite. So very sad about the wildlife.
Never a dull Moment ! Happy New Year.
🙂 Feliz Ano Nuevo to you both as well.
Another beautiful sunset! Mexico always has it’s own unique set of challenges, the Isla even more special ones lol. My countdown to Mexico is on – only 2.5 weeks to go, Zihuatanejo or bust!
Really only 2.5 weeks, the time will fly. The Isla is truly unique and I love all of its quirks.
