This has been an unusually cool holiday season. Not many tourists willing to brave the cooler temperatures. I feel badly for the beach vendors and the local restaurants that count on tourism at this time of year. It has mostly been totally overcast, a few days with some peeping sun and one full glorious blue sky warm day. Not what we came here for. Many here and on the Isla in general have colds, one of the RVers is now in the hospital with pneumonia. When the temps go down to 65F/18C with 65% humidity and with cool blowing winds it is time to bundle up or stay inside. We have chosen to do both but are mostly staying inside. We haven’t had a beach walk since Christmas Day.
Some are totally bundled up yet there are a few wading in the water and one brave soul up to this neck in the ocean.
More folks from snowy Durango off the bus for a day at the beach. I guess to them this is warm. Hmm looks like another stuck truck.
This guy appeared to be right down there.
A tractor was called in.
That only happens when a vehicle is really truly stuck. But it worked!!
This photo was sent to me from someone back home. Looks like our sign is working. It has been difficult for those looking after our home to climb over the plowed snow pushed onto our driveway. Plus once it melts we come home to a bunch of rocks and debris on our driveway. No more, I hope.
This cat had been sleeping two sites over, on our friends table. This is the one I saw on January 1st sitting on the roof of a car outside of my bedroom window. I have no proof that this was the one of the two cats that destroyed part of my artwork. The other cat left today. Too late for me though.
For the past few days RV1 has been totally full and then three left over the past two days. However there are reservations and folks will be arriving soon. I hear that all four rows of RV2 may be full at one point. That will be a first. The last time it was even close to this full was the winter of 2009-2010 when George from Our Awesome Travels was here. We were both in the third row.
The wind this morning was blowing many of my bougainvillea blossoms off the branches.
Do you remember the people who came off the bus that parked alongside of our fence yesterday? Well somehow through the day they would return from down the beach with a table, then two chairs, another table and finally more chairs. When they left the furniture was scattered in a large area. They did take their BBQ’s and trash with them but left their dining room behind. It came to me this morning when I saw everything neatly piled up that I had last seen this same dilapidated stuff in front of the squatter’s compound next to RV2. He must have come during the night ( I have been told that he is nocturnal ) to straighten the mess up. I also noted that a few chairs were missing. Perhaps he will take back some pieces tonight. I just had to get the photo of this tired vendor stopping and taking a break. They must walk dozens of miles per day back and forth along the beach.
Sadly there were few tourists on the beach today. Close to an equal amount of buyers to sellers.
Stay warm folks. It’s cold everywhere, except Florida that is.

WE’VE BEEN DOWN TO 34F TWO NIGHTS IN A ROW AND HIGHS IN THE MID 50S. VERY STRONG COLD WINDS. SUPPOSE TO WARM UP BY THE WEEKEND BUT NOT EVEN TO OUR NORMAL HIGHS. HAVEN’T BEEN OUT OTHER THAN TO THE MAILBOX FOR 2 WEEKS!!! PHX HAS HAD FREEZING NIGHT TIME TEMPS AND SNOW IN MANY PARTS OF THE STATE WHICH NORMALLY DON’T SEE ANY. CRAZY, CRAZY WEATHER THIS WINTER. NOT MUCH FUN.
Global warming!!!! Sorry you have to endure that horrid weather. Hopefully the weather will improve for everyone.
It is pretty col almost everywhere, but at least we have some sunshine, pretty nice when we can get out of the wind.
You know how to handle the weather, out of the wind but stay in the sun. Hope it improves sooner than later for you.
That is cool. I just checked Zihuatanejo – it looks like average this week of 30-32 degrees, likely because it it so much closer to the equator. I am ok with that! The countdown is on – 15 sleeps! You sure have a lot of snow in Kelowna – just rain here. Lots of it – like 100 ml a day right now, ridiculous. And wind again, lots of ferries canceled.
Yes Zihuat is much further south of here. We have spent some great times there. I know that you will enjoy the area. Much better than the rain on Vancouver Island and the snow in the Okanagan.
Over the years reading yr blog, there have been LOTS of people/vehicles stuck in the sand. Can’t for the life of me figure out WHY they think it is an ok thing to drive down there, the sand always looks soft. They must surely think, ‘not me’, I won’t get stuck. Don’t they think even for a moment they may get stuck? Can’t think of a worse situation. Some of them dig out for a long time too!! Not a fun day at the beach..
I have no idea why Dolores. It just doesn’t make sense. But it does make for great RV TV 🙂
I know we shouldn’t complain but it has been way too dreary and cold! Today…off to the beach. I think you have more Rvers because we have less…too much noise and construction dust here in Las Jaibas.
So glad the day turned out well for you. Yes we do have some RVers from your park who are leaving the dust behind.
44° in January here in ‘the tropics’ of Southern Indiana … I’ll take it !!!! LOL
Yes you are doing very well at that end of the country. Enjoy.
“It’s cold everywhere …”. I know, we just came out of the rain and cold and are in sunshine and 81 degrees F in St. Augustine, FL. Heading to the port at Fort Lauderdale to board the Royal Princess.
Yeah you are still going on your cruise. At least you are in the warmest state in the US. Have a great cruise.
