Happy Valentine’s Day everyone

It is a great day for me.  I just got my red colored camera back from the repair shop which is now actually in his home.  Yes this is the third repair this season but they do say that the third time is the charm.  I certainly hope so.  The prices have been extremely reasonable considering what he does.  First time it was 300 pesos, the 250 pesos and today only 150 pesos.  I think he felt badly that I still had spots when I got it back January 10th.

He took some photos to show us how detailed the cleaning is.

The sensor is smaller than a fingernail.

So this is what a point and shoot camera looks like.  Bear in mind that only in Mexico will you find someone willing to take this type of camera apart.

There was dust on the sensor and also on a filter which mounts behind the lens.  There are gaskets around the lens barrel which keep the dust out as the lens zooms. One of the gaskets was curled so there was a space. He straightened it out so the seal is good.  Hopefully we will not have a dust problem again. There is one problem though.  Some of the function controls do not work so this may mean another trip back.  We are going out tonight so I will put the camera through its paces.

Good luck with your camera, that is why I bought our waterproof camera years ago after a few years on the beaches and have had no issues with dust. But eventually they deteriorate and a couple of hundred pictures a day eventually they need replacing after many years.
Hope you had a wonderful Valentine’s Day too.

Yes I understand about the waterproof and dust proof camera but you can’t zoom with that type of camera and I do do a lot of zooming.

We have spent a few caravans in Mexico and am always amazed at how creative the Mexican people are such as not only making a welding machine out of vice grips and plugging two bare wires into an outlet, but then doing such a great job American specialists are amazed at the quality.

Wishing you and Colin a fantastic Valentine’s Day.

Hope you had a Happy Valentine’s Day, Contessa.

I must say, when it comes to your cameras, you have the patience of Job! The love of photography and its art must be the reason.

Happy Valentine’s Day to you and your sweetheart as well.
Amazing what a steady hand and patience will allow one to do. Good luck with the camera.
