We have left the Isla
Yesterday was a very high tide and today even more so. Full moon and super moon.
My nineteen pots have been placed in the back area away from the ocean breezes. Hopefully they will do well while we are away. Ismael will water them for me. We even left a hose there for him.
Our last beach walk was yesterday at close to low tide. You can see how far to the left the sand is dark from the tide going out.
A final adios happy hour.
My final Isla sunset of the season. Nice to have four boats in the bay.
Four of us left today, three from the back row. Tom and Mandy are still on the extreme right behind that big 5th wheel.
Our site is ready for the next RVer who just so happens to be friends of ours. Sad that we won’t see them but I know they will enjoy the beauty of the Isla.
Always hard to say adios to my plants. They have been blooming so wonderfully this winter.
Almost ready to drive off. A few more hugs goodbye and we did leave.
Oh no, not the road again. Looks like they are getting ready to do the paving.
We had to get them to move the backhoe and we were good to go.
I expect that this new overpass will be completed by next November.
We had a good day despite a few bumpy sections in the road. Colin only managed 30 – 40 MPH in those areas and was able to drive 50 – 60 the rest of the way. However there was evidence of recent patches to some potholes and one small section that was completely repaved. It was nice so see them working in the southbound lanes. Hopefully that will benefit us next November.
I was glad that it was a short drive today as it took a while for my body to get used to being jostled about. I managed to get over 5000 steps in by bouncing in my seat 🙄
The only annoying issue today was this doble remolque/double trailer who had a top heavy load in his back trailer. He was swaying left to right all over the place, an accident waiting to happen. You can see here how the back trailer sways to the right showing some of the steadier front trailer. I took the photo from the passenger seat so it was really worse than in the photo.
A load of tomatoes. Colin wondered about the tomatoes at the bottom. He called them crushed tomatoes. As we passed the truck he could see some juices running out from the bottom of the truck bed.
Stopped at Pemex 3970 @ km 75 once passed the final toll after Culiacan. Peace and quiet and free internet are the main draws. We did fuel up here @ 22.44 pesos per litre. Prices keep going up.
We drove 195 miles today, a 4.5 hour drive from Tres Amigos RV Park. Los Mochis where most Rvers stop for the night is only 135kms further. We prefer a short first day and a regular full day tomorrow.
So very dry here compared to the Isla. My nose is all stuffed up just because of the dryness. It is going to get worse yet.
All in all, a very good first day.

Safe Travel, fuel prices rising every day up here, and the fires have already started up….Yikes!
ALWAYS TOUGH LEAVING FRIENDS AND SURROUNDINGS. EXPECT HIGHER FUEL PRICES HERE AS A NUMBER OF STORAGE TANKS BURNED TO THE GROUND OUTSIDE HOUSTON AND AS OF WEDS, THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH A CA REFINERY.

It is a smart choice not to drive too many miles just after leaving. All the stress of packing and taking off and then hours behind the wheel could be taking a toll. Once you get into the routine you’ll eat up the miles. Safe travels.

Another fun year in Mexico under your belt. Safe travels. 5000 steps from bumps lol, that happened to me one time when we went salmon fishing due to the boat over the waves.

I hope you are now enjoying a well earned glass of vino after todays drive and all the recent packing up. I can just picture your rig behind the Pemex. I am wondering if the noisy amourous tom cat is still prowling around. Glad you are settled in. Kick back and relax because as you well know tomorrow is a long one. Laura and I had a toast to you both for your first day back on the road.
