Most homes here in Las Vegas have two air conditioners on the roof.
Many homes have their roof covered with solar panels. I bring this up because of the number of solar panelled homes I have seen here in Vegas versus the very few such homes in Lake Havasu. I mentioned it a few times while we were in Havasu, “why don’t they use solar”?
So I looked up the residential rate of electricity. Lake Havasu residents pay on average 9.25¢/kWh while here they are paying 12.15¢/kWh. I can’t see that that is enough reason to not use solar panels in Lake Havasu. Maybe there is a lack of solar panel businesses. I found a really neat link that shows the rates of commercial, residential and industrial electrical kWh prices all over the US. Click here to check out what you are paying versus another city. Sometimes I get lost in trivia 😉 As we had so many errands we decided to do them all at once giving us a free morning and evening.
The material that Erik made the dash cover from, where I rest my feet, came from this shop. Colin had picked that up as well as the material for our new slide out end covers. Yesterday he picked up 3 yards of the creme leather like material, as the colour matches what we already have inside the RV. Great to have for future needs.
Next stop was Home Depot to pick up 1/4″ stapes for his staple gun.
Best Buy was yet another stop.
I wanted a second battery for my new camera and also found an even smaller camera case. The new battery is not an original Canon one but a made in China knockoff. It still cost $39.00US. The original sells for between $50.00 – 60.00 US.
I really wanted as small a case as possible so that I can fit it into my purse. This is how I hope to keep the dust off my lense. Always always place my camera in this case or in a plastic bag.
Our stop at Costco was frustrating. They did not have our gourmet Caesar salad dressing ( must only be in Canada ) nor the frozen Michael Angelo’s Eggplant Parmesan. They have it as we head south when we have little room in our freezer. Now that I have freezer space for four boxes they don’t have any. These are the employee lockers at Costco. I loved all the different coloured locks.
Because I still needed to find a few frozen dinners we stopped at Trader Joe’s.
Now why would I take this photo? Seems like pretty normal yard service. All except for the last one, ‘Palm Trimming’. That is something we never see north of the US border.
Finally our last stop. Walmart is just across from Sam’s Town and our RV park, the Las Vegas RV Resort is just a few short blocks away. Still no eggplant parmesan ( they had tons at Lake Havasu Walmart ). We forgot to get bananas but we did get my saline nasal spray and a runner to help keep our very recently cleaned carpets remain that way.
I had been tired all day yesterday and by the time we got home from all these stops, I had no desire to go out again. We did try to find an interesting movie to go out to see, one that we would both enjoy, but the caveat was that the theatre had to have those deluxe recliners. It did not come together. So we had a quiet dinner, watched a bit of TV and went to bed by 11PM.
We have some patriotic neighbours behind us. This flag is incorporated into their side privacy screen.
The weather has been rather cool and windy here. Yesterday morning it was cold enough that we almost put a heater on but as you can see the afternoon brought sunshine and blue sky. It was extremely windy at 5AM this morning which caused the awning at the head of the bed to keep bouncing up and down, creating a noise loud enough to wake me. Finally Colin also woke up and went out to put the awning up. I managed to fall asleep again and didn’t get up until 8:25AM. This afternoon the temps increased to 75F. I am not complaining as our next stop has a forecast high of 44F for tomorrow. The low is what worries me, 22F/-6C 😯 I am just not quite ready to deal with that.
Today was project day. Using some of the fabric he purchased yesterday as well as the shorter staples Colin recovered the panel that is behind one of our dining chairs.
This is what the panel looks like. The stairs to the outside are on the other side.
It was an eyesore. I expect it got so very dirty partly because of all the various people who have been inside to do repairs. I suspect that they ran their black greasy hands just over the wooden handrail as they entered and exited the RV.
Yet another successful repair project by Colin. It looks brand new. Gracias.
I keep forgetting to mention that our flights from Vancouver to Montreal on May 14th and the return, Toronto to Edmonton, the end of June were both 737 Max 8’s. I called within an hour of finding out that Air Canada had grounded all flights until July 1st. Got new flights in each direction and none of our European connections will be affected 😀
Had to laugh when I saw the picture of the gardening truck. That is the guy who does our yard. In fact he was here at the house this morning.
Glad you got so many errands done. We have finally got most things caught up. Only have to take the laptops in for a few repairs and debug them.
Hope the rest of your trip goes well.
Nice to get those errands taken care of and can get back on the road again, Safe travels.
Glad you got your flights sorted. I know the exact caesar salad dressing you are talking about from Costco, we also think it is the best. I am thinking of buying a palm tree. Have always wanted one and two of the homes we looked at had them. Need to read up on care in this part of the world – they are small palms though that only grow to 3-6 feet. They are expensive. I think we will wait until next summer when we extend our patio and create our “Mexican Oasis” back there.
ONE REASON FOR NOT AS MANY SOLAR PANELS IN HAVASU IS THAT WE ARE AN OLDER POPULATION. I WAS CONTACTED SEVERAL TIMES WITH GREAT DEALS WITH SOME GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE, BUT BECAUSE OF MY AGE, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT I WOULD NOT LIVE LONG ENOUGH TO REAP THE BENEFITS AFTER THE COST TO CHANGE OVER. IT IS VERY EXPENSIVE. WE HAVE 5 HOUSES ON OUR STREET OF 27 HOUSES WITH SOLAR AND MANY OTHER HOMES IN THE RESIDENTIAL AREAS UP TOWARD THE MOUNTAINS USE THEM.THOSE WHO WOULD BENEFIT THE MOST ARE YOUNGER PEOPLE WHO UNFORTUNATELY DO NOT HAVE THE FINANCES TO CONVERT. WE CERTAINLY HAVE THE SUN AND MOST OF OUR STREETS AND THROUGHOUT THE CITY HAVE SOLAR LIGHTS ON THEIR OUTSIDE PROPERTY.
Once again a nice job Colin! Good thing you were able to change your flights without affecting everything else. We have heard on the news that it has been windy in Vegas, yesterday was the first day we had any wind but it’s still been nice and warm. We actually had a little tornado run between our RV and the one beside us, it was pretty cool as I was looking out the window when is went through. Other than knocking over one of our chairs it didn’t do any damage.
