Then a sudden change in the weather

Colin was up early on Wednesday, Nov. 20th and he started by taking a wire brush to the open areas on the patio, then he vacuumed the patio.  I was in day two of my cold and resting inside.

Although I did pop out to take a photo of this Carnival ship coming in from Puerto Vallarta.  With a freighter on the left and a shrimp boat on the right it made for a neat photo.

Then the painting began, this is the mix of the two colors.  Colin has been so good in letting me rest while he carried on with all the to do’s.

Painting himself into a corner.  The patio looked wonderful once he finished.

This is our 11th winter here on the Isla and our 9th winter on this very site.  We decided to paint the patio on December 2nd of 2016.  Then on November 27th of 2017 we repainted it with a slightly different yellow (Lowe’s in Arizona did not have the same paint #’s as the California store from the previous year ).  When we arrived in 2018 there were some bare areas but we somehow covered most of those with carpets  and did nothing. This winter we found two half gallons of left over paint and mixed them together.  I guess next year we will have to come up with a new yellow and start from there.

With the heat we expected the patio to dry quickly.  However mid morning it became cloudy.  I checked the forecast and it showed mainly sunny with no precipitation.

So where did this come from?

The rain was accompanied by strong winds.

There was a good deal of rain and it did not take long for the road behind us to fill with water.

All of the weather forecasts showed sunny conditions but I did find this.

The lot to our left was covered in water.

The patio was 2 inches under water.  The storm went on for several hours and we heard thunder.

We are the lowest point in the park and all the water flows towards us.

The water on our patio was ankle deep at this point.

My shoe was floating away as was the knee pad.

The rain did eventually stop.  My seeds were on an outdoor table and got damp so I was drying them out as best I could.  What a mess we were in.

Sadly the patio had only been painted a few hours previously and was now under water for many hours.  Nothing we could do.  Most anything we have done in the past two days needs to be redone.

I did manage to get a shot of the cruise ship as it headed out.  I image that it was not a great port day for all those passengers.

This has been a rough adventure for you this year. Hopefully you can now dry out and have some beautiful sunshine to enjoy.

We went out shopping that day..big mistake. By Home Depot the water was deep enough to stall small cars..the Jeep, going slow was fine. Same in the Golden Zone. Lots of drainage canals with no way for the water to get to them. Crazy!

  3. Good thing is, you can find some very good high quality paint at Home Depot, Comex, or Doal. It’s Colin’s labor that can’t be repaid.

Wow, things just keep happening don’t they? Hopefully you folks are over that now and life will once again be happy and easy.
