Sunday was a mixed bag
I realized today that I had forgotten to bring sugar for the hummingbirds. The Mexican sugar is coarser and someone told me not as sweet. However I used my normal ratio of 1/4 cup sugar to 1 cup of water and the birds are happy. The plant man showed up but his truck was bare. He said that he had gone to RV2 first and they bought everything, the same thing happened our first Sunday here. I did buy three bougainvillea from him. I told him what else I needed and he said that he would bring the plants on Wednesday. We shall see. I did invite him into our yard to show him the plants that have been eaten and he told us that it was ants. So we will put down some Home Defense around the one bush. He also told me that a few of my hibiscus have a fungal bacterial disease.
At dusk, this jet ski came pretty close to the banana boat who had just dumped its passengers. I know its a bad snap shot but I wanted to photograph how dangerously close the jet ski was.
While I put the tablecloths on our palapa tables and hemmed the corners so that no-one would trip over the extra material Colin was creating a different lighting pattern. Now we can put on just a few lights plus the tree but can add the other lights when we chose to.
Sunset brought us a bridal couple. Her veil was naturally flowing in the breeze and the colour was perfect but the photographer had his back turned.
We did so many little things that I can’t remember them all. The days are passing swiftly but our yard is beginning to look like our Isla home once again. The very tall bougainvillea I planted nine years ago need to be pruned back a good 5 -7 feet as the bottom is dying as it needs more light. Also we can now see through to the dusty road due to the lack of leaves. Likely we will prune a few feet now and do the rest in March before we leave.
I didn’t realize until I looked at this tonight that the photographer has his back turned again. The sun was going down quickly. Hopefully they got some special photos.
I spent a good part of the day online while sitting outside going through all my emails and am happy to say that I am down to 80. I hope to half that in a few days. I still haven’t started a new novel yet. I am really trying to get the yard caught up.
While I work on my blog after sunset Colin plays. He just loves this ragged piece of music. He has a new copy but likes tp lay with this one.
Mexico is the first country in the world to be certified rabies free. You can read about that here. Plus a Mexican student has created rubber roof pavement, that article can be found here. That is pretty amazing.
Our solar lights appear to have survived being in storage since March. Two of them are iffy.
We left the lights here all summer and they were mostly working but extremely dusty. One set in the middle of string was not and Colin decided to change them all because it was easier than having to do another repair in another week or two.
We ended the day with a lovely tuna pie and a huge Caesar salad. I just found out today ( in real time ) that our romaine was from Salinas, California, an area where romaine has been found to cause food poisoning. That article is here. So far so good 😯

I think the romaine thing has more to do with the fact that people don’t wash their veggies. I always do, even ones I grow:) Maybe you can find somewhere on isla to create a shrimp burger if you explain how you like to bring visitors to eat them. It might be a new popular addition to their menu and I am sure they would love the extra business. Looks like you are almost all settled in!
Who does not wash their veggies? I would hesitate to suggest such a thing to our local Isla restaurants. However there is one that might be receptive to adding it to their menu. We would be happy to be the guinea pigs to check it all out. They are the ones that just recently added a dorado burger to their menu which is a HUGE move. Two years ago there was a new local restaurant that had a shrimp burger but they are are no longer open. Not enough customers.
Hopefully the photographer was able to get some pictures as good as the ones you did, that first one with the brides veil flowing was very pretty.
I just loved how the veil was naturally flowing in the wind. So hard to get that special shot.

Glad to see you two are starting to get into the resting part and a bit of enjoyment as well. I’m sure your cold will soon slip away and things will settle into a nice routine. Enjoy!!!
I really hope that they got some great photos. It was a prefect setting. We have seem some bridal couples come here and there was no glow to the sky re clouds. In real time ( Wednesday ) I am doing much much better.
Your photos of the bride and groom are lovely; as others have said the one with the veil floating in the breeze is especially beautiful. I really like your “lit” Palm tree…..
Thank you Sandy. BTW us Colin was itching to get onto the beach and take over the photo shoot. He thought that the photographer had no idea what he was doing.
We were once on a barge cruise when a jet ski cut across out bow. Did he really think the barge would/could stop for him?
Yes he did!! I guess when they are out there having so much fun they only think of themselves. So sad as that is how horrific accidents occur.
Looks like your settling in nicely! Love the sunset pics! Sorry about Tony’s and the shrimp burgers! Hope you can find another place that makes them.
Thanks re Tony’s and yes we are almost settled in. The sunset photos will hopefully continue as long as the sun continues to set.
