This is the plant that the leaf cutter ants totally destroyed. Rather than throw it away I decided to keep it and see what might happen. So happy it came back.
This plant has doubled in height in the past two months and is now producing large blooms.
Look at the size compared to my hand.
Similar to the hibiscus three photos up but if you look closely, it is very different. The stamen is different as is the pink ring around the dark centre nor are the petals the same.
Our bougainvillea plants are eleven years old and have been planted on this site for close to ten years now. We cut them back when we got here this winter and they have picked up. Ismael is going to cut them back at least another 4 -5 feet once we leave which will help them get a better growth pattern going. Right now we have very little blossoms at the bottom, most are up high.
This red flower was a surprise. It just bloomed a few days ago and was the first one on this particular plant this winter.

You are most welcome mi amiga. I know how much you love hibiscus as I do.
They are so pretty. Glad they are blooming before you leave.
So sad to be leaving soon as the flowers are at their best just now.
Looks like your patience has paid off as all the flowers are beginning to blossom.
Be Safe and Enjoy!
