Laid back Tuesday
We slept very well and deeply until 8AM. It was a cool morning at 60F, such a difference from the Isla especially with only 35% humidity. I spent the majority of the morning putting away my Mexican paperwork, pesos and maps, etc and pulling out all my USA maps and money. We discussed the next few days and made some tentative plans which we hope will work out plus made a decision regarding dates re our trek to Canada. I think I made my fifth change to our RV reservation in Las Vegas. Last month I was lengthening our stay and now I was decreasing it.
The sites here are very large as you can see.
Eventually I showered and dressed and we went for a nice walk. This really is a lively RV park and very close to many places here.
Sadly this family owned hardware store which has been in business for 45 years is shutting its doors by the end of the month. The owner tried to sell the business but no one was interested so he is doing a close out sale. Quartzsite is going to really miss this gem of a store.
Normally we would have gone to dinner at Silly Al’s but instead decided to do take out. We ordered ‘The Bruschetta’ know as the taste of Italy. It consists of olive oil, basil, garlic, marinara, mushrooms, tomatoes and lots of mozzarella, all on a thin crust by choice.
As you can see we ordered what they call the 20″ goliath rather than the 14″ large. I figured this would give us lots of leftovers in the week to come. The pizza was the best I have ever eaten outside of Italy. Perfect end to a laid back day.
We keep following the news as best we can and there are ever so many changes throughout the day. To read that Vegas is shutting all the casinos, restaurants and pubs is hard to believe but no more then all the rest of the many many shut downs. Even Hawaii is telling people to not come and visit. This is going to either be a long haul or if everyone does self isolate it might pass rather quickly. Meanwhile our hands are getting dry from all the washing and hand sanitizing.

Nummy, Silly Al’s! Your picture made my stomach growl. We wanted, and had planned, to stop on our way home but then life changed 🙁 Hopefully something to look forward to next year.
Toss me a slice of that pizza if you head north on #97A……Went to Chelan today..60* F and just beautiful, maybe for all of next week?….

Thankful you had two good but long travel days and the laid back Tuesday was much needed. Yes, your pizza looks so good. And leftovers to enjoy….YUM!

It does not matter where we have been Silly Al’s has the best pizza by far.

It will be sad to see Herb’s Hardware closing. Whatever you needed they had it.
All schools here are now closed, hoping they decide today to close the daycares. All restaurants and bars are shut. The only service from restaurants you can get now is takeout/drive thru so some just shut their doors totally. Canadian Tire announced they were closing today. My hairdresser shut. We did a quick run to Home Depot last night to get painting supplies and a propane tank for our fire table that is being delivered Friday. They say the liquor stores will be closing soon but that might just be a rumour. I hope they don’t unless it is a total lockdown. I went to Superstore yesterday to do a 2 week stockup and they have hired a bunch of workers (hopefully some of the unemployed restaurant staff) and there were about 10 people stocking shelves. They had checkout open. They still have no TP but I went to Shoppers Drug Mart to get a prescription (after a telephone Dr appointment, something new for my medical clinic as they are almost 100% telephone appts now unless you absolutely need to come in) and they had no TP on shelf but at the checkout counter they had it and were limiting to 1 per person. All stores should have done that a long time ago. Lots and lots of food and produce though so little worry of food shortages. Some of our clients are being decimated, and our plumbing supplier is still doing well which was nice to hear and gives us a bit of hope for our business since if they have to close our contracts will end.

Oh, Silly Al’s!!! I was already craving pizza when you posted this. We always order enough to have leftovers, too. But, it can’t be Silly Al’s from here so we’ll have to settle for what we can get.
