Nothing like being in your own home
We drove 490 miles to get back to Canada yesterday.
So very true, B.C. is “the best place on earth”. Except when I am on the Isla.
We love love our RV but being home is a different feeling. We arrived about 10:00AM and for the first time ever we saw a good part of the lake frozen. There was free flowing water in front of our home and there were a variety of ducks swimming about. We were ever so fortunate to also see a few winter swans on the lake at the far end, away from the house. Another first seeing them, but ever so briefly as we drove past.
We spent last night in the Canadian Tire lot. I had called and asked permission. Plus we arrived after they closed and left before they opened. This was at 7:15 this morning. A cool 32F/0C. Certainly not a warm welcome home.

We worked for seven hours unloading the RV. There is enough food for more than two weeks. At least a month. We will need to get some fresh veggies eventually but I have enough to make a few large pots of soup. Still have much more to unload but we have tomorrow and the next day before we have to move the RV to the storage area. We were not impressed with our 4C/39F welcome, not what I would call a warm welcome home 😎
If you look between the second and third rain chain basket you will see a lighter colour on the lake. That is the frozen ice.
It’s already 9:00 PM, but we both have had our first baths since October. Simply divine. Dinner is in the oven. Soon we will be sitting back with a lovely meal and some Australian Pinot Grigio.
I wish that I could do a full post for you but we are both very tired and I had to ice my knee and do my exercises. Tomorrow is another day. We are only allowed to have the RV here for three full days so it must be moved by 11AM Sunday which does not give us a lot of time to unload and do some cleaning before storing it away. Normally we take the insurance off once we get home but we do need to have some work done on it first. Such as a new windshield, new tires and a long visit to Freightliner for a number of reasons mostly related to our November RV issues. However we must first do our fourteen days of self isolation. Fortunately yesterday was considered day 1 per the border agent as we had been in the RV all day and would not be getting out until we got home today. I leave you with something important to read.

Welcome home! Take care of our knee and enjoy some rest once you are unpacked.
Actually I plan to rest as soon as the RV gets to storage. Mail and some unpacking can wait. This is a time when I wish we lived full-time in an RV. No packing and unpacking.
glad you are home. I know what you mean love the RV but SO good to be in the house. Nice to be able to move around and sleep in big bed.
please take it easy on your knee – anything that doesn’t get done now can wait till later. We emptied out, put it in storage, we only have 24 hours in front of house. In a week or two when it warms up we’ll bring it back to house and clean it.
Snow in Red Rock Canyon this morning. Really cold for here – in the high 30s in parts of Vegas. Bill is freezing.
Put off until tomorrow what doesn’t need to be done today.
My knee is not happy at all. I am finished unloading and have started ice and more ice and will put stuff away bit by bit. I will take all of your advice. Thanks.
Welcome back. So glad you made it. Yes, it has been a little chilly of late but for us Spring is close at hand.
Thank you. We are looking forward to our garden this spring. Obviously we won’t be going anywhere so we are going to plant a larger one.

I sent you the information to share if you chose to. We are so very very happy to be back home. At this point we are just putting things into the house and will take our time to put them away. Once the Rv is back in storage then we can relax.
I have been giving the subject of your clipping a lot of thought recently considering my experience of losing Norma just 12 months ago. I know having her family near her at the end gave her a lot of comfort and I would not have to face it (on either side of the locked door) without that contact. But on the other hand, I would have a certain amount of satisfaction knowing I was not exposing my loved ones to the virus. It is not an easy thing to consider no matter which side of the door you are on.
In any case, welcome back to Canada, eh? Get your tasks done and settle into your self isolation! I enjoyed our phone conversation this morning. Take care of yourselves and we will see you when we can!

Welcome Back. Settle back and relax for a couple of weeks. If you let yourself, You will likely enjoy it.
Once we have unloaded the RV and put it into storage ( from which we have to walk back from – which some say is not allowed ) we plan to do nothing but sit back and put our feet up. I love to sit back and do nothing. So many books too read.

Got home at 7:30 last night. We went through the border on Wed as well. Had another truck issue in Moses Lake and didnt cross until 2pm by which time the border guards were implementing the new regs. Told us the first place we stopped would be where we had to stay for 14 days. We are a 2 day drive from home. Took our phone number, threatened us and were all round nasty. We just kept driving. Spent a total of 24 hours driving to get home.Horrific roads between 100 mile and Quesnel. Burning car carrier had us up for 1 1/2 hours. By the time we got home we were fried. Our daughter and family provisioned the house and ou son in law cleared 1/4 mile of snow so we could get in. 8 days and 7 nights Mazatlan to Terrace. Glad to be home even if there is no beach.
Oh my!!! I assume that you crossed at Osoyoos which is where we did and you had a totally different experience than we did. I told them that we were going to stop in Oliver at the Canadian Tire and they said fine as long as we did not get out of the RV. They never took any of our info or asked where we were going to spend the 14 days. How can they expect you to drive all that way? So lovely that your family got you all set up. At least they can drop things off for you if you need them. This is such a horrific situation. FYU, I count Wednesday as day 1. Sleep and relax for a few days. At least you will be able to get out for a walk with all you space but then there is the snow. We have people here watching our every move. Of course the media is giving folks the number to call if we don’t do what we are supposed. I fully intend to walk and that was confirmed by my doctor who I spoke with today on the phone.
Colin says that he would have told the border dude that he would have to find someone to drive your vehicle home as that is pretty much impossible to do. But you did the impossible. I am surprised that they allowed you to fuel up enroute.
