Is it just me?

I am finding these isolation days speeding by.  There is still not enough time to do everything that I would like to in a day.  I still have 577 emails in my inbox.  So much to do and so little time.  I am getting many things crossed off the to do list but the list is ever so long.  March has passed by swiftly. We were only supposed to be home tomorrow, April 1st.

Our 2020 March calendar shows Venice for the third and last time this year.  We so enjoyed our time there. It was magical. I truly hope that we get back there one day and to our favourite parts of Spain as well. We have been fortunate in that we were able to visit Europe the past two years.

I just read that Nevada is requiring anyone who enters the state to self quarantine for 14 days.  This is the case in several other states.  I can’t imagine RVers who have just crossed into the US from Mexico having an easy time of making their way north to Canada.  Not sure how we would have got home without spending time in Nevada.  Yes we could have done I5 and into Vancouver but with the snow on the Coquihalla we would not have made it home.

Blog readers and friends Sharon and Jim just crossed into Canada and are spending their 14days in an RV Park in Lethbridge, Alberta. But at -21C/-5.8F it isn’t a pleasant experience.   I wish them well.

I puttered around inside today putting things in order while Colin did odd jobs outside. I am doing my knee exercises once per day but should be doing them twice per day 😳  And with my not walking, my knee in not happy.  I have had close to 6000 steps most days just walking around the house but that is not the same as a proper walk.

Sunday I made fish chowder with the fresh veggies that I had with me and used the fresh frozen snapper fillet that Colin picked up at the mercado in Mazatlan just before we left.

The same afternoon I saw someone  ( on our parks Swap & Shop site ) offering to deliver a fresh loaf of homemade bread to the first three people who said they wanted one. I was first :). His wife loves to bake and they wanted to share.  It was the best bread that we have ever tasted in our lives. A great addition to our chowder dinner. Lucky us. We are certainly eating well.

Interesting concept.

Hopefully you are enjoying some of the humour that I am sharing with you. I trust that you all had a good day and will continue to self isolate.

If you love home made bread, I heartily recommend frozen bread dough. I put in a paper lined bread pan, and stick it in the microwave for about 8 seconds. Just enough to get the inside thawing. By morning it is thawed and near the top of the bread pan. I let it rise to about 2″ above the top of the pan, then bake per directions. I love it. When cooled down, I slice it in 1/2 and freeze one half after about 6 hours.

Thanks for taking the time to comment Phil. I actually had never heard of frozen bread dough. It is now on our shopping list. I think that would be a fun thing to try.

  2. Those jokes make perfect sense with today’s problems.
Be Safe and continue to Enjoy Self Isolation.

    It’s about time.

We are very safe here in our own home. It is going out to buy groceries that will be the scary part once we can go out again.

That’s a great picture of the “Belles” from Cypress Gardens in Winter Haven Florida. The Belles are no longer. It is now Legoland.

    • contessa says:

I did not know that it was Legoland. Changes and more changes. A cute way to distance yourself from others.

Glad you’re home and keeping yourself busy. Not sure I want anyone but immediate family cooking anything for me at this time and even that’s risky. How do we know that the person preparing food has not been infected with Covid 19 and isn’t showing symptoms yet. This was pointed out to me by a good friend in the health profession. Sad, but true. Stay safe.

I agree that you have to be very careful about having someone else cook for you. The couple who made the bread have been here all winter and are not sick and have been very careful as has everyone else here in the park. No one wants to get sick nor infect anyone else so everyone is keeping away from each other. I don’t think that I would eat at any takeout fast food place nor order take out meals from a a restaurant. As you say, you just don’t know.

I agree with you Contessa. I have not yet found our quarantine long. We are currently starting Day 13. We live in an apt on the 2nd floor with a west-facing balcony. Our kids, grandkids, friends & family have all stopped by in the lane behind us for visits. Some of those visits last for 30-40 minutes! We have been VERY strict and resisted the temptation to go past our own front door. It is hard but VERY necessary. We have only the morning news and then music until the evening news. One can easily get overly-saturated with all the stats and commentary. Mind-boggling.

It is amazing how many little jobs that we can get done!! Glad you are both well and home safely.

    Thanks for the funny pictures!!

Hard to believe we are halfway through our initial 14 day isolation. You are fortunate to have family and friend come by to say hello. I can do without grocery shopping but will have to at some point but I am so looking forward to walking.

  6. Being busy is a good thing. I am glad we both still have company work to do, we will continue to be busy at least until the end of May then things may drop off but for now we forge on. Yikes, Alberta is still getting miserably cold weather. Your soup and that bread look fabulous.

We have no jobs at all and I can’t see anyone wanting a photographer to come into their home at this time. I guess that is why we have RRSP’s.

The jokes were good and the soup looks delicious!
