One of the ladies here in the park basically grows poppies in her garden. She doesn’t get much sunshine and lets her garden do its own thing.
This shot was taken May 25th. The poppies were just coming up. They return year after year.
They are spectacular.
Difficult to see in this photo but the centre is a deep purple. Next time we get ( yes more rain showers ) a sunny day I will take another shot.
Interesting sky two nights ago along with the reflected sunset.
Any over 65 is getting a $300.00 cheque from the government on July 6th. Be sure to spend it wisely.

Contessa, Beautiful poppies & I love the sign !! LOL, is it ‘ cheque’ or ‘ check ‘ ?? 🙂 🙂 My regards: Lucy.
We spell it cheque here in Canada but I have seen it spelt as check as well.
Hi Contessa, very interesting the way the word is spelled, we in the States use ‘ check ‘, the word ‘ cheque ‘ is hispanic in origen, is there a large hispanic population in Canada ? My regards, Lucy.
No not a large population. The large population are the French.
Those poppies are beautiful. I love them but they don’t last very long, especially when it rains. I don’t understand why they waited so long to pay the $300 when all the other payments were so fast. I am sure my Mom is spending hers at our local farm market, she only does online shopping when I help her for things she can’t get locally
Yes it has taken a very long time for the delivery of the monies since the announcement. Perhaps it is related to writing a program to deposit the money to each account.
Lovely poppies…they are voracious self seeders so easy to grow. My friend didn’t dead head her”s and was over run as they created a mat of seedlings that are now buried under two feet of mulch! In my gardens I allow a few special plants that self seed but I dead head religiously so they don’t take over.
Deadheading is a huge job as is weeding. And I know that you have a very large garden. Lots of work my friend.
