In the news and an important question
Things are heating up here in British Columbia (BC ) and not only the high temperatures 😯  Our Premier suggested on Monday that those who have out of province plates might want to re register and change to BC plates in order to avoid being hassled.  I think that this was a bit over the top. However, having said that, there is a couple here in our park from Alberta with a very expensive RV plus two vehicles who have just changed their registration on all three vehicles to BC plates.  I noticed that on our walk just a few days ago. The minimum registration here is three months and so they now have BC plates from mid July to mid October – likely when they will head back to Alberta. Our friends, Jan and Paul said that they have been bothered a bit over the past few years but it was not an issue. They did mention that currently there are many many BC plated vehicles back in Alberta.

And now for the important question. If you could only make one more trip in your life – assuming it was possible re Covid – where would you go? I am feeling a lack of freedom these days and so I have begun to ask myself and Colin of course, where we would go if we were only allowed one more trip away for our home for the rest of our lives. So where would you go, either as a couple or on your own?  Somewhere nearby or overseas? Personally, we both agreed on a trip to Venice.  From there we could travel to the island of Burano for some seriously great pizza. Not quite the same as Naples but a very very very close second. At this point in our discussion, Athens would be our second choice. Please take the time to leave a comment as to your choice.  It would be interesting and fun for others as well.

I am so looking forward to your replies re the question. Basically you need to tell us where in the entire world you would choose to visit if this was your last time to travel away from your home. Think in terms that this is the last time you will be allowed to travel.

I am going to start out by eliminating a family visit because that would be my only answer. So after that is gone I would pick Scotland and Ireland. Home of my ancestors. Visit a few pubs, go look for Nessie, see the beauty of the land.
I would love to visit Israel as my last trip. I am Dutch so I have seen a lot of Europe . We lived 10 years in West Africa and over 30 years in the US.
I would rent an rv and be all over South America.
With a lot of our Canadian History connected to England that was where my Late Wife and I toured.
I would love to show Kathy what I saw but would like to include Paris.

Austria and Switzerland. We had a trip booked for this past June to northern Spain. Sad to have to cancel.

Swiss railroad tour of Switzerland Alps incl all the cog rail tracks to the high regions plus the very high chair lifts culminating in northern Italy, Lake Lucerne region. Side trip to Venice! Ken

My dad was in the Navy when I was born in Cuba so I’ve always had a desire to visit there. Not sure I would actually go if I could but the thought is always in the back of my mind.
Linda, how great that you were born in Cuba; how old were you when you left? I know only one other person born there, and he returned later in life to see the few relatives he had left. But he came away with the feeling that his Cuba had changed too much. When Obama cracked the door on diplomatic relations with Cuba, my husband and I sneaked through that crack, too. However, it was not without the help and encouragement of a mutual Canadian friend of Contessa’s and mine. But we went with no high expectations and just there to see if we could find a little of the old Cuba before 1959. And we found it with the help of a wonderful Cuban by the name of Roly.
I was only three months old so I have no memories other than what I’ve seen in family photos or movies set there. Plus, since I was born at the Navy hospital at Guantanamo Bay I know I would be disappointed if I went there now that the US has used Gitmo as a torture place. So, even if we were still traveling internationally I doubt we would go back to Cuba. But, I can still dream about what might have been, right?
Africa to see the animals that are slowly disappearing. Elephants, lions etc, etc.
My choice would be a repeat visit to a spot I visited before starting to RV throughout the states. When my wife was living we rented a villa through VRBO on the Island of Eleuthera, one of the out islands in the Bahamas. The island is a true natural paradise with some of the most beautiful beaches you will ever see.
There are even some pink sanded beaches on the eastern side of the island. The thin island is about 100 miles long and 2 miles wide at the widest part. No car rental companies on the island you rent a car from a local and they are normally old cars imported from the states. Only problem is you drive on the left. Pleasant memories from a beautiful place. Going to do a search now to see whats changed.
I asked Rex your question and his answer was China – after much thought I would like to see Israel again. So much history you just cannot take it all in in 10 days. Same with Ireland. All the answers have been interesting and the reasons for wanting to go or to return to a place or country

I would go to Mazatlan and just stay! Besides that, Scotland to visit Seton castle. I guess if you’re named Seton (or Seaton) you get to stay the night for free!
Well considering we love to travel…we work to save time travel….my bucket list is Italy and as you know we have postponed until 2021….not sure where Sonny’s would be but I bet Mexico, Costa Rica, or Belize!
Contessa, probably our last greatest trip would be to New Zealand; while we were both still working, we took three weeks of vacation to Australia and could not fit in New Zealand. Australia was so huge to cover in three weeks that we never got a break. So, now that we are retired, I would love to spend six weeks in New Zealand. From a friend at work who had his honeymoon there, he said it is a pristine land with unbelievable views; these people are big environmentalists; and they preserve the history of the Maori Polynesians (early settlers) to this day. The only thing different I would do would be to not fly straight through (14 hours) from Los Angeles, maybe split up the trip after 7 hours flying time in say Tahiti or a little further in Fiji. Otherwise, you would be dead tired.
P.S. Belated Happy Birthdays! I’m always the slow one coming up the rear. Ha!
