Nearby fire
Sadly we have a wildfire burning about 43 miles south of us. The fire appears to caused by a lightening strike and aggravated by the extreme hot temps that we are enduring along with winds to create a firestorm. The fire is out of control at this point. We are not in any danger but many others are. 319 homes have been evacuated and sadly one was lost today. Another 3,700 homes are on evacuation alert. At this moment the fire is only 1 km or .6 of a mile away from the vineyards of Painted Rock Estate Winery. Animals, large and small are being evacuated right now. The fire is estimated at 1400 hectares/ 3500 acres.
Sadly, nothing left of this home.
All we can do is pray for the winds to calm and the temps to drop and for the firefighters to stay safe. We have had the lowest fire season in over a decade and now this.

Hi contessa, sorry about the fires close by your area, we in California are threatened year round by brush fires, there are aproximately a half dozen of them burning @ present time. Best of luck to all of you. My regards. Lucy.

Such a sad sight. We don’t have any fires burning near us but its smokey. We all could sure use some rain.
Sometimes I wonder how Mother Nature works. There is a greater reason directing things.
After being burned out of our home I can imagine the fear a Wildfire would bring.

We have free rain for everyone!! Started back in May, hasn’t quit for more than a day or two at a time since. Worst summer we can remember.

Oh Kathy I had no idea how bad it was up there. I feel so badly for you.
Painted Rock is where or Son’s Marriage was to be this past July, and is now scheduled for August 2021. They are just a bit anxious about all this.
And the Summer was going so well from the standpoint of the Fire situation.
So glad that the winery has been spared.
Wow! Well, stay safe and stay alert. If you have to run, run and don’t worry about “stuff”. It is just “stuff”. Be careful!
No worries, if ever we were in such situation we would simply grab our go to box filled with important papers ( such as house plans to rebuild ), etc placed right next to the front door.
