What else can I tell you?
Within the past month I had a mammogram and that went well. However my bone density not so much. I have “reduced bone mass” but because I have had both hips replaced it is difficult to calculate the exact loss. I had osteopenia but am now somewhere beyond that. I am already taking 1500mg of calcium so that has not changed. My doctor has upped my Vitamin D to 2000 IU per day and suggested bone building exercises. So we shall see what happens down the road. I do know that I am shrinking. I did get my veins done yet again in my right leg last week. For the first time in eight years I felt great pain and actually cried out several times. However it was an RN doing the injections, trained by my vein doctor, so that she can be free to do more complicated procedures 😯 It is all about billing more and more. The RN has only been doing this for a few months. There is no where else that I can get my veins done. Only two doctors in our city and both are booked two years ahead. I am not doing it to look pretty but it is a medical necessity.
Last Friday we put a one day permit on my car. The Lexus has not been driven since October 25th, 2019. We have stored it with the battery disconnected and the gas tank full. Colin had one blue sky sunshine photo to take to complete a large photo shoot he had done mid September when the smoke was here and thick. I was so happy to be sitting in my vehicle and driving to Salmon Arm. Lovely to get out of the city. There was some colour in the foliage but we were about two weeks early for any photo shots. I just enjoyed being driven and relaxing.
Parked at Superstore in Vernon to pick up a few essentials including some wine. I have fallen in love with my car again. I had been talking about selling it as I drove it so little. For certain I will insure it for six months come April.
Saturday Colin got up early and moved the canoe back down to the beach. He was off onto the lake about 8AM with temps of 44F/6C. Of course he was wearing shorts and only a light jacket.

A bit later I happened to look out the window to see where he was. Can you see the canoe mid photo, a titch to the left?
He told me later that he was heading to his friend, Ray’s place, at the far end of the lake, for coffee but no one was home or they were not up yet.
Saturday for the first time ever I made a fall curry, served over basmati rice with fresh cilantro and a dollop of sour creme. So very yummy. Of course the coleslaw and our tomatoes and cucumbers helped to cool the palate.
This past week we finally got a refund for our airfare to Egypt. Once we got that we were able to apply for a refund for our travel cancellation insurance. Most welcome news.
Yesterday I made the most wonderful tuna noodle casserole. It was so good that I forgot to take a photo. This is a link to the recipe. I always read all the reviews to a new recipe and adapt accordingly. So I ended up adding 1/2 tsp of cayenne as well as a good shake of both onion and garlic salt. I had trouble getting the milk to thicken so added more flour which worked perfectly. Instead of cooking it under the broiler I baked it at 425 for 15 minutes. Oh, I also mixed the 1/4 cup of parmesan with some grated cheddar and a few spoonfuls of original Panko crumbs and spread it over the casserole before baking.
I found a mid calf wool sweater coat under the bed the other day. Perfect for the fall. It had huge shoulder pads which I was easily able to remove. Now I just have to be sure not to collapse under the weight of the coat. Soon I need to find time to start going through all those yellow bins of clothing.
Do any of you have any suggestions for keeping rodents out of our RV over the winter? The last thing we need is to find chewed wires come spring. We had friends who had left their RV in New Mexico over the summer and come fall discovered that most of their wires had been devoured. We recently found a product called CAB’N FRESH, made in the USA. Contessa I noticed unwrapped soap bars spaced every 10 feet sitting on the ground in a barn where RVs where stored. When I asked what for I was told to keep rodents out. Maybe some strong smelling soap bars in your RV over the winter?
Don’t know if the not commenting on blogs will eventually get straitened out, but Blogger has lately been making modifications to many of our (other bloggers) complaints about certain items ever since they changed over to the new Blogger system. So maybe try every so often and see if this situation has changed.
I remember now, that I have heard that Irish Spring soap is used for that purpose by some RVers. I do keep trying every day to post on your and others blogs. One day it will resolve itself.
Fresh Cab is the BEST! I have used it for years and never had a mouse. We used it in Nebraska too, out in the field we had 30X40 steel building and we put all of vehicles, trailers, and tons of packed household boxes in it and locked it up for 9.5 months and went RVing. We tossed in 20 bags of Fresh Cab and we came home to a very clean steel building, not one mouse had invaded, not one. I use it in my RV all the time. In the basement I tend to keep about 6 packs of it and inside, when we are not using it – I have 6 as well. We’ve never had a mouse in the RV, not once. In the winter, the bags last longer. The scent goes away faster in heat. I suggest you toss a few under your home and in your shed too.
Bones: I started having the same issues, then found a great hormone specialists. WHAT A DIFFERENCE he has made for me, and for my bones and overall health. AMAZING I tell you. If only all the doctors would tell us when we’re young, what we need to do or at least watch out for as we age. In just 5 months I can say I am 90% improved.

Thanks for that glowing approval for Cab ‘N Fresh. Good to know about the scent dissipating faster in the heat as well as how many to use. I would love to know what your hormone specialist said to do or use. You can send me an email if you prefer. Top right side of the blog. We used to juice all the time. I wonder where my Champion juicer is. I am already chilled and it is not that cold out. I think my body needs the Mexican heat. Once we get there, we will appreciate every moment that we are there.
My sister uses moth balls n their RV and says that works.
That is a good idea, hopefully the smell won’t linger too long once we take them out.
When we had the RV, we used Fresh Cab and sticky traps. Many people view them as inhumane, but they do immobilize and kill the rodents. Good luck with the creatures this winter.
I think that Colin was contemplating using some type of trap as well. We have had mice and a rat in the RV but only in Mexico. Our girls used to tell us if there was ardent around. They were great mousers considering they were dogs.
As of 2017 Fresh Cab not allowed into Canada! You can however purchase in the US.
Actually Janet I did get it here in Kelowna, at Enterprise RV. They have tons of it. Maybe you are thinking of another product, this is all natural ingredients.
We use peppermint oil on cotton balls and place them throughout the RV and we haven’t had any mice problems this year at the campground.
Good idea. I just read that putting peppermint oil around your tomatoes plants will deter the rats. So it has to work in the RV. We likely will do a mixture of things.
We used a victor ultrasonic pest repeller,purchased at Home Depot it is good for mice and rats works great we kept it under the trailer it has to be plugged in that maybe a issue for you but I know that Amazon sells solar ones I’m not sure of these ones but ours was wonderful it let’s off a sound that the little buggers can’t stand,hopefully this will help you out a bit.
Bounce dryer sheets put everywhere and Cedar Pellets also everywhere. Bought at Canadian Tire stores. This worked for Jim and I in our RV to keep the critters away.
Well I was talking with some friends that keep their motor home stored and she had told me what they have done for years is egg shell yes correct, they live on a farm and have a abundance of them and she was told years ago that rats and mice all small varmints do Not like to walk across them, she is a very green person and does not believe in pesticides says this works like a charm. I guess it’s just a matter of getting enough to surround your rig… just something I’ve found out .
