Snow! Already!
I blinked a few times this morning and used the zoom on my camera. I did not want to be mistaken, but for certain there was snow up there on top of those very tall hills 😯
Definitely snow across the lake. That white at the bottom is our lake.
Even at the front of the house, there are spots of the white stuff.
Also lots of snow on the road between here and Vancouver where Colin needs to do some aerial photography.  I really don’t feel comfortable with him driving there in these winter conditions. Fortunately the helicopter company is so busy that they could not take him up for at least three weeks 😕  So I think that it is best that the photography is postponed until the spring 🙂  I have decided 😆
We spent the better part of this long weekend working on the garden and going through the five large bins of clothing that were stored under the house. Â Looks like life is repeating itself. I once was large and then was thin. Much of the stuff in the bins was too small but a good deal was just right for my current weight. I scored some winter sweaters and fleece tops. Some of the items went back into storage. But between us we are donating a good deal of winter clothing such as sweaters, hats, toques and gloves to those in need. Two less bins are not going back under the house. Â I guess you could say that we are more or less ready for winter. Â Probably less as I am still working on closed toe shoes.
Our Thanksgiving meal was last night. Â We enjoyed a salmon fillet, Swiss chard from our garden, a baked cauliflower dish, some baked white sweet potato and cucumber and tomato from our garden. All very tasty.
Tonight we would have been enroute by air to Cairo, Egypt via Chicago and Frankfurt. Perhaps next year, one never knows.
On our special walk yesterday we sauntered down the rail trail to the creek which runs along our golf course and into our lake. We had heard that the Kokanee salmon ( land locked sockeye salmon )Â were for the first time in many years ( at least 20 ) were spawning.
What a treat to witness. I have always wanted to see this and here it was happening in our own back yard.
Sadly in the circle of life, once they have laid their eggs, they die.

Very cool that you were able to see the salmon spawning!
I was so excited to see the fish. It is a big deal here because this creek was a mess both coming into our lake and exiting at the other end. They cleaned things up after our flood in 2017. This is going to change things within the lake itself.
3C here this morning but at least it’s not raining!
We are going down to 0C in a few nights. Have to pick the last of the chard and the green tomatoes.
Quite a bit of snow was on the side of the road at Penask summit yesterday, and it certainly looks like more there today.
Yes certainly looks like more snow today. And another storm coming Friday. What a mess the highway must have been. Glad you got home safely.
Snow on the Coq,and Grouse,I think we are in for a cold one bundle up and bunker down.
Well I for one am not ready. I really need a few weeks of cool autumn weather before winter sets in so that I can gradually get use to the cold.
Smart move to wait until spring to head down to the coast. We were going to make a trip down in a few weeks to see hubby’s mom but we also think we will wait for spring.
Right now the road is bad but perhaps it might improve in a week or two. Would be nice for hubby to see his Mom. We usually get tuna pot pies from a fish market in Ladner, have been doing some for 25 years. However its costs about 45.00 ( likely more now ) to have them shipped. If the weather picks up we just might take a day trip there and back. It would be a lovely drive.
We too got snow on our ski hill. People are happy. None down here thankfully but we did have a whopper rain/windstorm. We didn’t lose power but many did closer to Nanaimo and the gulf islands. Glad you fit some of your clothing and downsized the rest for those who need it. Nice to see the salmon there, even though they die. Lots of other wildlife eat their carcasses (an eagle dropped one on my Mom’s car a few years ago as he was carting it off, she almost ran off the road but no didn’t and it didn’t dent her car. Just smelled horrible so she had to drive straight to the car wash)
I read about that wind storm. We did have some strong gusts and ons of rain. The worms came out of the grass as they were drowning.
