Que pasa
It is that time of year to start putting patio furniture away for the winter and to remove the dead flowers. We still have tomatoes growing here in the yard and in the garden so we are leaving them be for now.
The girls both love poking their noses into spiders webs but Ciela is the only one that gets bites. A few days ago she came in with 12 bites. They don’t seem to bother here which is a very good thing.
I do have a bit of good news re my ankle. The swelling has gone down to the point that I was able to put a shoe on this past Wednesday. It had a velcro strap so that I could fasten it at the longest it would stretch to. I also recently noticed a vein on the top of my foot – I have several on the good foot so this is progress. However last night while sleeping I stretched both feet by pushing the toes down. That certainly woke me up in a hurry. I saw a few stars but then fell back to sleep. At this rate I am hoping that my first physio appointment next Friday will no longer be needed. Meanwhile I keep icing and elevating as best I can. Oh and I stopped using the cane today.
I spent a good deal of this afternoon trying to catch up on my emails. Meanwhile Colin decided to make banana loaf. He prefers to bake it in the convection oven rather than our gas oven as he thinks it bakes more evenly. Sometimes though the centre remains more wet that dry. Today the loaf looked overcooked and the middle on the bottom was visibly wet but we thought it would harden up while cooling.
Just a few funnies…

I may have missed it since I cannot read blogs on our travel days but what it the latest with your goose friend?
Ahh yes Gus, I will complete that story soon.
That is some crazy weather you are experiencing. Hopefully more frost will hold off for some weeks now. As to Carlie’s chewing her paws, you might want to monitor that and make note when she does it. So many causes and maybe it is just boredom, but it also could be food allergies.
Good to hear that your ankle is on the mend and getting better. Things like that take time so be patient.
She just does it every few weeks or so. Boredom is a possibility but I can’t see how as they are either asleep, wrestling or chasing each other.
A tip for baking the banana bread is to make two smaller loaves from one recipe.
I do this and they only bake for 40 minutes or so. Instead of 60+ min.
And so they don’t go moldy on you; just slice them and freeze them individually on a baking sheet before putting back into a loaf shape and freezer bag.
That way when you want one it pops out of the bag, no problem.
Happy baking Colin
