Gosh every day seems to be so full
Our usual cloudy sky. Having said that, yesterday and today we got up to 23C and sun was involved. Not all day but at least part of the day.
Finally I got a photo of our resident snake that is keeping the girls so occupied.
He does not seem very friendly – at least to me. Look at that beady eye.
There are so many to do’s on the list and I miss recording more than half of them. Here Colin is restring our decorative lights. The strong winds over the winter broke them in a few places.
They are hung with small bungee cords which gives them some movement in the wind.
Personally I dislike looking at those bungee cords but at dusk and in the late evening one only sees the lights.
Whenever Colin leaves, even to go to the garbage, the girls wait and watch.
For the first time Carlie left her sister and went outside to lay in the grass. Of course as soon as I appeared with the camera she stood up. I liked that she was showing some independence.
This past Sunday Colin planted new cucumber seeds in tiny seedling pots. They are living inside and sit in the sun all day. Soon we will hopefully be able to transplant them.
A very old retired plane ( de Havilland Mosquito ) was supposed to land here Monday morning. It was flying in from Vancouver to spend the rest of its life in the new aviation museum that will open next month. Sadly it never left Vancouver due to mechanical issues but it will still fly here, just not certain when. So we were surprised to see this fly pass. We can only surmise that they were to escort the old plane once it arrived and so did a few passes for those waiting to see this historic moment. Of course we saw it all from the comfort of our patio.
The new on command hot water parts arrived on May 30th but the plumber could not get here until Monday June 6th.
Looks complicated. He was here 10 -12 days ago for many hours and again this past Monday for over three hours. We do have working hot water – finally. However he isn’t going to give us our final invoice till next week just to make sure. We already payed almost $1000.00 on May 25th when he thought that he had fixed the problem At least we didn’t have to pay for the new parts.

You’ll love the new water heater. Very interesting about the plane, will you go to the museum when it opens?
Of course we will check it out once it is completed. Meanwhile Colin is working on trying to do the photography of the interior/exterior. The architect says that it won’t be fully ready for photography until 2023.
Too bad Colin didn’t paint the bunge cords first then put them up.
Maybe a small brush and paint to cover the green while he has them up.
Colin is a busy man.
Good suggestion but I don’t think that the paint would stick between the rain and the heat ( if we ever get any ).
Those string lights are beautiful and so festive! The snake looks mean, but I think they all do.
We love the lights, got them from Amazon.ca and they are only about $44.00 for about 328′.
Contessa, you will probably hate to do this, but Colin should neutralize the snake for the sake of the puppies. It looks as though it is in the viper family by the shape of the head, but may or may not be venomous but would have fangs which it uses upon coiling its body. One of my granddachshunds, Toby, was visiting us and became quite interested in a poisonous Cotton Mouth crossing one of steps coming up from the Ashley River. Our wiener dogs are curious puppies. The fangs struck him on each side of his nose. We killed the snake to let the vet know at the animal hospital what kind of snake it was because he needed to use the right antitoxin on Toby. The vet wasn’t as concerned about the venom (as the snake only got one bite) as he was about the fangs themselves. He said the fangs carry so much bacteria that the puppy is more likely to die from infection. So, Toby’s second IV was for a strong antibiotic. He was in the hospital for about two days at a cost of approximately $2,000, and the rest of the week we had him here at home about a week using special food for him. The Vet prescribed a tranquilizer to keep him from feeling like running across the yard; however, I had to hide the pill broken up in his food in order to get him to take it. After telling you all this, it is easier to get rid of the snake.
Coming in the next blog post but he did catch the snake and relocated it. However just yesterday we found yet another one, even longer. We have a call out to a snake guy to help ID it.

The lights look great and do show off in the evening.
In the first picture of the snake, it looks like it had had a meal. There seems to be a mouse sized bump near the tail end. 🙂 I’m assuming it’s a garter snake.
There’s no rattle so you don’t have to worry about that snake. I just googled snakes for your area and the rattlesnake is the only poisonous one.
I really hope this new water heater won’t let you down.
We got 13.5 doses out of that tiny bottle and the RX was for for 14 doses, so I think we did okay. She seems to be back to normal.
Yes I just noticed that myself today that it looks like it had recently eaten. We have a call in to a snake guy re identifying the snake.
So far we still have hot water which makes me very happy.
I, too, noticed the “lumpiness” of the snake’s belly and wondered if he had just had a meal. Noticed in the first picture of snake that his tongue was sticking out just a little. Relocate is a good thing to do and where there is one likely to be another. Yikes, I do not like snakes.

We still have not found the second snake but when we do he will be going a ways away. The girls continue to hunt daily.
