Who has time to do a blog post when we are finally having some excellent weather? Can you see Ciela just over my right foot? We hoped that the forecast would prove correct and it did. Saturday was the perfect day, not too hot, not too windy and as long as you were in the shade under a tree, perfect. We put a fence up to keep the girls in the grass area as the patio was too hot for their paws.
I merely had to point my camera upward to see a plane fly over. Not too many to be annoying,
Love my delicate canopy.
To the left, a sliver of my book, Ciela relaxing next to me and a lovely glass of Argentinian Chardonnay.
So many reflections but Carlie was relaxing in the pink bed at the top of the patio stairs.
A bit of activity on the lake.
I was trying to get a photo of each pup sitting in the shade under a chaise lounge. But of course Ciela had to move as I snapped the photo.
Time to do some fertilizing and hand watering.
It was much warmer Sunday, 31C/88F. Possibly even hotter. Time to put up the umbrellas. Last year at this time we were under the heat dome, then the forest fires began. We never did our full patio set up. It was too hot and much too smokey to be outdoors
The dog appears to have a life vest.
I again set up under the Honeylocust tree and before I could sit down Ciela was there.
Looks like she has been playing in some spider webs.
I sat and read but today they wanted to sit on me. Ciela on the stool ( between my knees ) and Carlie on my chest. I could no longer read but it was wonderful just sitting and feeling them so close to me.
Such a perfect place to rest on a very very hot day. I can’t remember but we did get up to at least 89F, likely hotter.
My friend and neighbour Inger came over for happy hour.
The girls love Inger and most days get to stop at her home for a quick treat before their long walk. She has Ciela on her lap here.
Later I managed to catch Colin and the girls on the hammock. We brought this back from Acapulco in 2007, our second last winter there.
Today, day three of our lovely heat wave, I had to go out. I needed to make eight stops. Once I left the last stop and headed home I realized that the car was not cooling down. It was 93F and the Lexus A/C was not working 😯 . My water bottles were as warm as bath water 🙁 I made it home and thankfully was able to cool down in our home ( Colin had turned on the A/C about 1PM ). I think that the car was overwhelmed with the heat. I stopped at a Subway to pick up dinner ( no way was I cooking after such a long and hot day ). Clouds had begun to come in – yes our lovely interlude is soon to end. So as I drove the last few miles home ( after the stop at Subway ) I noticed that the A/C was starting to kick in – at least in one half of the car. Fingers crossed that all will be well.
Blue skies, sunshine, a hammock and people out enjoying the weather. Does it get any better than that?!?!?
You have such a beautiful yard and a great place to spend a nice warm day. Hopefully the heat will come back!
Lost my Luci yesterday.. It was one of the hardest things i have had to do. So today was so happy to the see the “girls” and their normal day and activities… they are such loves. I had her 16.7 years, and the loss is heavy
Oh no. I am so very sorry. She meant so much to you and I know that your heart hurts. I wish I was there to give you hugs.
