Que Pasa

Our new 43″ TV. We are now looking for a 26, 27 or 28 inch TV for the RV. It must be a smart TV. Hard to find in Canada. Guess we will have to get it once we arrive in Las Vegas. If you find any send us the link please.

I have been meaning to update you on the RV windshield replacement. I was the one who answered the phone when the glass shop called. Yes it was ready and yes it was perfect when I asked, “we always do perfect work”. So Colin drove to Vernon, yet again, and much to his surprise the window had cracked again. It happened about ten minutes after they called us. What can we say? Still no word on when they will get a third windshield. Good thing we started this back in early May.

Nice and slim and because of the thin frame it really is only an inch larger all the way around. Colin did not add the legs that came with it as the TV would then be too wide for the table. Instead we got this swivel base stand that he was able to screw the TV into. It stands barely an inch above the TV table, perfect for us.

FYI we leave exactly 6 weeks from today 😯

Will we be prepared? Right now it is too much to think about. I have to break it down to day by day. Looks like Carlie is ready to go.

I am feeling much better since I saw my chiropractor in Edmonton. Almost no pain when I lay face down which I have to do on a few of my kinesiology exercises. I had an appointment today and got my fourth set of exercises. I was sore all the way home just from learning how to do them. Not looking forward to tomorrow morning. My therapist is so very helpful and is going to put a program together for me to do while I am sitting when we are driving. Also something that I can do at every stop within five minutes. The overnight set will be more complicated.

Other than the seafood pasta this food was all from our garden. So very yummy.

Got my mammogram results today and all is well or so the letter says.

Ciela found a shaft of sunlight the other morning.

Can someone tell me why Canada only sells butter in one pound blocks? The US gives the option to buy the solid block of butter or wrapped in individual  quarters. So much easier for measuring in recipes.

Colin is putting in an edge to keep the Oyama shale in place. He has been waiting for it to cool down just a bit.

It looks great and will eventually fade to match the colour of the existing board along the road.

Colin builds things while I tend to drop things ( or fall ). I am going to miss my beautiful water glass at my desk here.

Last Thursday we had friends who happen to be neighbours ask if they could come by for a while. Hmm. They dropped a bombshell. They listed their home last Monday and it sold last Thursday. They had wanted to tell u in person. What!!!!  I am still in shock. Of course I never took any photos. Inger is the one who looked after the girls while we went to Vancouver for Katies’ service and both her and Steve are good friends. However the sale is subject to the selling of the buyers condo by end of November. We will be gone by then. Fortunately they are not moving too far away.

Do you think that this really happens?

One of the best books I have read in many years is The Sisters of Auschwitz. I thought I knew a good deal about that time in history but this true story of two Jewish Sisters’ opened my eyes. I learned so many details ( often more than I wanted to know ) and was surprised that these sisters crossed paths with Anne Frank in the camps. Those liberated from the camps certainly did not have an easy time trying to get back home. Such a difficult time in Europe right after the war ended. I have since read two more novels based on truth. So very many different things that happened that only survivors could share.

I meant to wish you all a wonderful long weekend a few days ago but somehow I ran out of time. I can’t let this carton go to waste.

Hope you all enjoyed your three days off.

Somehow, your neighbor’s sales contract does not strike me as a very good one. If the offer to buy is contingent upon the sale of the proposed buyer’s condo, then the seller would have to take their house off of the market exclusively for the buyer until such time the buyer (in November) sells their condo. The proposed buyer must have offered the seller a pretty hefty price for sale in order to get the seller’s signature. Usually, in this type of sales contract, the proposed buyer offers the seller a good faith deposit (say around $5,000 Dollars), writes the seller a check, and if the condo is not sold by November, the seller gets to keep the $5,000 deposit as good faith for taking the house off the market for the prescribed time.

I believe that they do real estate contracts differently here in Canada. We made an offer on our current property on the lake. Someone came in with a higher bid but subject to the sale of their farm. So we matched the price with no subject and got this site. The realtor here is leaving Inger’s site and home listed. She actually had a showing the other day. So if someone matched the original offer with no subjects, my understanding is that the realtor would give the original purchaser 24/48 hours to make good on his offer with no subjects. If he can’t the new purchaser gets it.

  2. When we replaced our home TV with an LG OLED TV (organic light emitting diodes) we liked it so much that we thought we get one for the travel trailer. However LG didn’t make them so small. We ended up purchasing a Samsung QLED TV (quantum dot LED) in 32″ that just about fit. It is similar in picture quality. They are are both smart TVs and you’d have to read up on it. So maybe a Samsung will fit your RV too.

Sadly 27/28 inch is the ability maximum. It has to fit inside a cabinet. I just found a 24” Samsung that also works as a monitor, it might work. I have passed the info onto the electronic expert in this house.

Butter in 1/4 packaging. You can purchase at Walmart and at Safeway.
Lactancia is one of the brand names, very similar to US butter than we like so much. Expect to pay a premium, as butter has really gone up in price. That said until the end of today butter is 3.99 a lb at Safeway limit 6. I bought 10 lbs, sometimes your wallet is more important than your likes. Quarters around 7.50 a lb. Looking forward to Stone Island photos.

I honestly did not know that one could get the quartered butter here in Canada. Can you believe that there is only the oe Safeway in all off Kelowna and it is right downtown. I seldom go to that area. Was able to pick up one pound of the Lactancia at Save On yesterday on sale to $6.99!! Have never tried it before.

Sorry about your water glass, a good place to find reasonably priced ones are at TJ Max/ Marshall’s/ Home Goods. We also have some oops moments. I’m so glad that you will soon be on your way to Isla!

Two of my Grandparents were murdered at Auschwitz and another in the South of France. My late Father used to speak at schools and share his experience but it took 40 years before he was able to talk about it.

Stay well and keep enjoying all those home grown vegetables.

    As always thanks for sharing.

It was a really special one, hand blown glass from Mexico. I am hoping that Santa will bring me a new one.

So very sorry to read this about your grandparents. I can imagine the difficulty in sharing what they experienced during that time, so many many horrific memories. That you for sharing this.

I always bring enough butter back with me in the spring because I like it in the 1/4 pound bars instead of a 1 pound brick and I’m not willing to pay the price for the Lactancia butter here.

Contessa…I’m still here lurking in tha background. I always read your posts but haven’t responded in a long while. No reason other than laziness I guess. I have so many FB groups I follow, it would be a full-time job commenting regularly. Anyway hope to see you on the Isla. We arrive 12/1 lord willing our flight isn’t canceled. I would love to read the books you mentioned if you’re willing to loan them. We toured Auschwitz a couple years ago. It was sobering to say the least.
    Safe travels, Linda

Thank you Linda for taking the time to comment. Love knowing that you are out there. We should be there about three weeks before you. Hope that we all have time this winter to visit. I got the books from my local library. One of the others was called ’The Dressmakers of Auschwitz’.

    Hi Contessa,
Thought you might like to know that you can purchase butter in sticks at Save-On-Foods. All though they charge more than just single pound they have it in salted and unsalted. I would have responded to your blog but sorry I was cleaning up my mail and it got deleted. I have on occasion bought single pounds of butter and cut into quarters when just soft enough to work with and wrapped in Saran and back into fridge or even freezer. I hope this helps for you.
Enjoy your day and give those angels hugs for me
    Love to you all
    Karen

Hi Contessa, Dave and I are going to be in Mazatlan for three weeks in February. My question is do we need to purchase medical insurance in Canada or will we be able to buy it in Mazatlan? I know you have done blogs about medical but couldn’t find then or I just forgot. I so enjoy the trials and tribulations on raising two dogs. I also love their antics and the joy you and Colin have with them. Take care.

Lovely to hear from you. And now looking forward to seeing you. As you know we are in RV1 at Tres Amigos.

You can’t buy travel medical in Mexico, you must buy it before you leave home. We still use Costco for ours and they use Manulife. Hwewr is a link to all of my blog articles on the subject. If taht does not work, go to the blog and type in “travel medical”. That will bring up all the blogs that I made on the subject.
