Festival Day 4 by Assistant to the Editor

An amazing festival. Today I arrived at the cultural centre and decided to have breakfast. Then, enters the cafe, Ricardo Gallen from Spain. This evening he will be playing with the OSSLA (Culiacan orchestra directed by Maestro Gordon Campbell). The program, Conceierto en Re mayor, Op99, Mario Castelnuovo Tedesco. So Ricardo sits at my table and he starts reviewing his music on his guitar. What a pleasure, eating a superb breakfast and listening to Ricardo. Ricardo then stopped playing for a while, we chatted and then he did a 10 second video on Contessa’s camera telling her how much he misses her and then invited me and Contessa to New York June 6. He is releasing a cd there and 2 days later his friend Diego is performing. What do you think my love? Want to go? As the day unravelled, I went to see Cris Lobo giving a jazz class, took a few photos and meandered to centro to buy some gifts for my Contessa, head blogger. Later a little rest at my home (Heriberto’s casa) and then off to the concert. First player was Piotr Pakhomkin from Russia, performing Concierto de Aranjuez by Joaquin Rodrigo. Fabulous. Next up was Ricardo. Ricardo is known all over the world and he had standing ovations before playing. Amazing. After the concert, we are off to Albertos for our midnight snack. I had a grande caeser salad with camerones. So much socializing, I met the back up musicians for Cris Lobo. Marcos Milagres on bass who is one of the best in the world and Mario Garcia, an outstanding drummer. Of course the best for Cris Lobo who is also one of the best jazz guitarists in the world. Tonight I will video the performance for my good friends Kevin and Linda. My nose stuffed up and ran due to extreme living. Many (lost count) glasses of tequila from Isela cleared me right up. Much laughter and fun At Heriberto’s home later and got to sleep at 3:30 am. Photos below of events with some captions.

    But you never drink tequila….hmmm!!!

YES to New York. We never did celebrate our 25th last summer and it is my 60th end of May!!! Let’s do it. But what about the dogs???

CJPS business is calling you. RYKON needs a huge Tommie shoot done next Friday in Diamond View!! Also Marcus from Westwood is waiting for your call. Time to go home I think. Plus it is cool and overcast. Have all the RV windows closed.

Carmeh is OK but I think I am developing gluten intolerance which is what my rashes might be about. Big diet change ahead for me at least. Thank God I can still drink wine and eat cheese, just no wheat.

Just checked and we can do NYC for #1250.00 CAD return for both, but the hotels and shopping will kill the bank account.

Not to mention the theatre, the vino…etc.

    Hola little “c”

I will work for the extra $ we need. I just want to go somewhere with only you for an adventure. We both love New York. Ricardo will know in a month the dates exact. I had diner with the great composer Julio and with Cris Lobo tonight, one of the greatest jazz players in the world. Julio is doing the concert in Maz. and we are going. I have 2 Festival passes that get us in as VIPs and we will sort out seating. We don’t need tickets. I imagine we will go out with Julio after. Julio wants to come to Stone Island on Sunday. He is one of the most kind and genuine person I have ever met. He flies to Mexico City at 5 pm Sunday. Can you believe the population of Mexico city 25 million. Cris invites us there next year. Berta wants us to come to Paraguay, Ricardo New York and Spain, Pavel Steidl Chek. and remember the young guitarists last year- come see us in Chile. We have such wonderful friends. Don’t worry about the tequila. This stuff is called La Picota 34.5 % alcoh. and is purely for my sinuses. It cleared them up. 1:45 am and still going strong. Isela tripped on stairs tonight and fell. I am nursing her- went to go get ice and made packs- she was using heat. Heriberto’s eyes were watering-tired and sore so I have packs on them. Christian didn’t go to school today because of nightmares so I cut him off Zombie movies. Have my hands full as well as being called Maestro every day by all the guitarists and masters. I have to keep striving to be at the level as the masters I admire. Trouble is I haven’t played since Monday but breaks are good for analysis and revision to techniques.
Love you so much. We have a special life.

Yes we do have a wonderful life. Lots to talk about and exciting.

Hugs to Isela and I do hope the pain isn’t too bad.

As to tonight…..the concert is at 8PM so you better get back here today ASAP. You have to spend some time with the girls before we go out again. Thanks for the heads up re Julio and Sunday.

Let me know what time you are getting here today……better pick up cerveza.

    Hola Love

It will be nice to be on the road. Got to bed at 4 am and really need a holiday from my holiday. Just got up. Julio doesn’t drink I think. He is very refined. He had tea at diner last night. I caught Christian playing a video game about killing zombies at 4 am so he will get a kind lecture this am to watch something nice before sleep. I don’t expect to see whites of anyone’s eyes until 10:30 or 11 am. They want hotcakes for me but I think 2 eggs boiled are better for my energy. Will try blog this am but have to complete festival images for their download.
