Long weekend in Mexico
Today everyone has the day off in celebration of the birthday of Benito Juárez García, the first indigenous President of Mexico. The weather was warm for the most part and it was a fun beach type of weekend. Lots of action and just fun to sit and watch the world go by.
Do you remember last March when we had the huge trucks climbing Goat Island. You have to read my blog post to get a feel for what that weekend was like. We were told it would happen again this weekend. We saw a few vehicles come done the beach late Saturday evening and the Pacifico beer tents were put up. Several people set up tents on the beach for the night but yesterday morning we found out that the event was cancelled. Someone ( was it here on the Isla os an official from Mazatlan ) refused to allow the trucks to climb the mountain citing too much permanent damage. These photos show it all from what happened last year. So this year they went to Villa Union for their fun but many did come back to spend Sunday afternoon on the beach.
If you look closely at the above photo you can see a white truck just at the base of Goat Mountain. That belongs to Tim, an avid fisherman from RV2, he can often be found fishing off the rocks in that area. Sadly he and Cheryl headed North today. Adios and safe travels.
…and that was just Saturday and Sunday! I wonder what the holiday Monday will bring.
