Que Pasa

Happy Birthday Dad and Happy Father’s Day !!  A big day for you.  I know that with Mom still in the hospital it just won’t be the same.  Please know that we all love you.

It looks like our tree is going to survive. As you can see it will loose some leaves but should be perfect next year.

Want to know how the other half ( well maybe 5%  ) live?

They have a 40′ motorhome just like we do, but it cost 3 million USD.

Have a look at this one minute video from CNN….

I’ve decided I don’t like Canada’s new no penny policy.  If you pay with cash this is what happens as per the Canadian Mint website.

So I stopped in at the grocers to pick up 2 zucchini and handed over $2.60 in cash and was given no change. I was rounded up in error, yet again. I should have received 5 cents change! Instead I paid 3 cents extra.

So either I now have to pay with my VISA card for everything or carry a copy of the rounding up/down policy.  Not sure if I will bother going back for my 3 cents. On second thought,  I can tell you that my Dad would and I am my father’s daughter so I will go back. You taught me well Dad.  Maybe if I save enough pennies I can buy Colin one of those 3 million dollar RV’s shown in the video.

Happy Father’s day to all you readers that are Dad’s.  Hope you have a special day.

  1. I have noticed the penny thing too but believe it or not I have come out ahead a few times rung in at 8 or 9 cents and only charged 5 cents.

In time I bet all the prices will be at the nickel price increment to start out and most will probably round up to get there.

Sounds squirrely. No disrespect to Canada though.

You can still pay with pennies. The trick is to pull them out when you would be rounded up but keep them hidden when you are rounded down. I have about 50 pounds of pennies.

You did get ripped off in the case you cited.
