The Morning After….
…the working weekend that is! Actually it is end of day, the Monday after the weekend.
First off I have to send a special thank you out to George who took the time out to research how we could change our HHR broken door handle on our own and save mucho pesos. George you rock for finding this site.
Also a shout out to Jon who has yet to claim his prize for identifying the object in the photo.
Colin found some time over the weekend to pluck a few strings.
We both worked each day of the weekend at our desks. For Colin, lots of photoshop and for me still catching up and trying to keep current. Other than the few hours checking out the flea market we worked. Even though it was nice and 28C out the girls only got the one walk per day. We feel bad but time is so short right now. We even had two trades people in over the weekend.
The best news of the weekend was our conversation with Colin’s Mom. She is going to turn 99 the end of October. She is doing very well except for losing her hearing several years ago. She finally agreed to all her boys getting together and paying for hearing aids. Now we don’t have to shout on the telephone when we talk to her in Winnipeg, where she still lives on her own in a Seniors home but shops for and cooks her own meals. She had no idea of the number years she could no longer hear but thought that there was no sense spending money on hearing aids as she was not going to be on this earth for very long. Well that was 15 years ago and she is still the Energizer Bunny. We are happy for her to be hearing new sounds. I predict she will be around at least until 122.

It’s nice to see people get really old!
The soup looks like chilli and very tasty!
Keep well, thanks for your blogging.
Cheers, Peter and Shelagh.
Peter & Shelagh….she is a wonderful lady. I don’t seem to be able to make a ‘thin’ soup! Just my style.
George…modesty prevents me discussing certain thins she could here. She is one happy special lady.
Jon…congratulations….we will see you in Mexico, you choose the date or I could give it to your parents instead???
Kevin…she is the oldest person in that Seniors Home in Manitoba but refuses to eat in the main dinning room as the rest of the residents ‘chew with their mouths open’ and she just can’t take it :))
Chris…I can see Colin on the road at 99, can’t you?
The soup looks yummy, nice easy meals for when you get home.
Good for Colin’s Mom, sure is nice to be able here sounds again, I know from personal experience.
Hey I won!! I must confess that I work as a collision repair shop assistant manager, so i’m around cars a lot. I found your blog looking at other mexico blogs online. I used to work in Mazatlan, for 8 years, but only in the summers, in tourism. My parents will be hitting the road in their rv next winter and I’m hoping they make it to Mazatlan…. perhaps I can join them too and we can enjoy some vino together!
Your soup looks delicious. Wow! 99, Colin’s mom is doing great by the sound of things. Kevin’s Grandmother lived until 98 and her sister until 99. I hope I get a chance to live that long but only if I am well, if not I would rather not be here.
Kevin and Ruth took the words out of my mouth. The soup looks delicious. I would add, I would like to be 99 as long as I am on the road!
Have you ever been to El Tunel in Mazatlan? it is directly across from the Angela Peralta (?) theater. That is one of my favorite places to eat in Maz – muy barato, y muy bueno~! Gabino, the owner, is an old friend from when I worked there. I was excited to see you stay on Stone Island. I used to run tours there.
So if I can make it, we can all meet up and enjoy a dinner. and if not, perhaps my parents. I would not expect a dinner for all, but we’ll take you up on some vino!! Thanks!
