Santa Claus is Coming to Town???
We were in Costco at some point today and I heard a little girl singing that Christmas song! I looked around and sure enough Christmas decorations are for sale right next to the wrapping paper. Her Mom must already have bought her Halloween costume of which many were for sale along with the appropriate October 31st decorations because all she cared about what Christmas. It is 33C ( 91.5 F ) here today and we have our A/C on. All I cared about was buying groceries and getting back to the car. Christmas is just over 4 months away.
I have to say though that traffic in this tourist town is becoming much better. People are going home and getting ready for school to start. We left late this morning and got to my allergy testing appointment with 20 minutes to spare. Kinda glad I haven’t been driving all summer. It will be easier now.
I have taken my first shower unsupervised and dried myself and have been driving the golf cart. Tomorrow I am taking Colin’s car for a test drive. I think my Z3 is too low for me to get into at this point. Today marks 8 weeks to the day I had my hip replaced. I think that I am doing very very well. I kept up today slepping through a few grocery stores. Colin thought I was doing quite well. I still have to get the hang of carrying a purse ( or get an outfit with deep pockets ), using my cane and carrying parcels to the car.
I have avoided mention of the allergy testing till now. We both felt that the entire thing was a huge waste of time. I was tested by nurse #1. It was very simple and Mickey Mouse in my opinion. Then I was sent to nurse #2 as they called her where she asked the same questions I had already answered on my written form but typed them into her computer. Finally I got to see the Dr. who said that likely I would never discover what caused my rashes and I would just have to keep taking antihistamines and applying strong cortisone cremes to the rashes. She did order a bunch more blood work to test me for a bladder infection, diabetes and auto immune diseases.
I learnt a few things, that there is such a test ( hmm…really ? ) and that it is hereditary but there is no cure. My father has Wegner’s granulomatosis and medical papers are being written about the length of his survival ( 10 years ). My mother had both Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia. I believe that all my test results will come back negative.
The doctor does not believe in caffeine allergies. She suggested I be careful what I read online. So tomorrow I shall send her a report that references the Mayo Clinic!!!!
By the way, the allergy tests only showed a reaction to grass and molds. Otherwise they say I have no allergies. Marty that does include corn. So I am now going to resume my old regular diet and see what transpires. Colin even asked her about the wine I drink and she stated that it was okay. Well I already knew that 🙄
As to the grasses, we don’t have any where we live in Mexico. Just sand and gravel. She tried to tell me it was pollen in the air, well we are here only 50% of the year…..! Then she suggested it might be stress related. Had all of this started here I might agree but it started on the Isla, my go to for total relaxation. Last thing she suggestion was that the rashes would just simply disappear one day. I sure hope so.
Meanwhile yesterday Dad got transferred from the hospital to a sub acute ortho specialty rehab. Their purpose is to rehabilitate him ASAP so he might go home ASAP. He likes it there and says he is glad to be “out of that hospital”!
It is 6:15PM and time for me to unwind and get some dinner happening. Only posting at 7:40PM local time…..mucho mass family discussions via telephone.
Beat news of the day…I am not allergic to my girls

Stan was surfing channels tonight and came across a Christmas movie where a girl was singing “Ave Maria.” I dunno-too early for me. I’m sorry that summer is almost over. Still hot here, too, lots of wildfires!
Marty….way too early for me. Sorry about the wildfires.
Marty….I also think that wheat is hidden in tones of things.
George….good luck to Suzie’s dad, the first few weeks are the worst.
Sandie…the allergist said they would always come and go but it would be so nice to find out the why!!
Really glad you’re not allergic to corn, that has to be the toughest allergy there is. It’s in everything!
You are doing well with the hip replacement, hope Suzie’s dad recovers quickly too, his operation is next Tuesday.
Good luck with the allergy tests I had some done years ago and thought it was a waste of time.
Had to laugh when I read this because Jim and I were in Costco a couple of days ago and I nearly had a breakdown when I saw all the Christmas stuff already. I just hate it when it’s only August. I break out in hives (not as bad as you) frequently and have absolutely no idea why. So I hang in there and they eventually go away. So frustrating. When Dad says he is so happy to get out of that place, he is definitely getting better. Great news.
It’s depressing to me that holidays are promoted months before their actual arrival. It’s still SUMMER! I hope that your allergy woes get resolved, and it’s good that you’re recovery from hip surgery is coming along. I’m glad your dad is on the way to recovery. Hang in there – the Isla awaits!
