Christmas Hamper fund raiser party

The day started with our usual beach walk. Lots of wave action.  It got quite warm yesterday with temps hovering around 28C.  We always have a lovely ocean breeze to keep us cool.  If you want it hotter you just walk to the back of the RV where in a few moments it will be almost too hot.  Works for us.  The girls are always moving from sun to shade and back again.  We have dog beds spread throughout our site.  We love to spoil them.

They also love to hunt for geckos. Can you see the girls on the other side of the fan palm? Yesterday they spotted a small iguana and went crazy. It is sitting on top of the curved rusted pipe on top of the white pole. They girls wanted to climb up.

Not a clear shot but it certainly blended well with the surroundings.

As I moved around to get a photo from the other side the iguana became startled and went into the curved tube opening head first.  Just it’s tail was sticking out and it looked like just another wire hanging there.

The tube is short and open at the bottom as well. Colin thought we would grab the iguana by the tail and remove it from out yard. There was no way that critter was being removed from the tube. It must have been using it's claws to brace itself. So the girls sat and watched for several hours and when we finally looked again it was gone. I wonder if it is the one eating my flowers?

For at least nine years now the Tres Amigo RVers have been supporting the poorer families here on Isla de la Piedra at Christmas by providing food hampers and toys.  This year we are helping 32 of the neediest families chosen by locals ‘in the know’.  What is extra special is that last year as well as this year, Estrella del Mar, a condo/golf resort at the south end of the Isla has joined in our efforts to raise funds.  Also this year many other gringos on the Isla have participated.

These are all raffles prizes that we have donated. Then we buy tickets to win them back.

We also also all bring an appetizer to share!

Did anyone count how many we were? Certainly a huge bunch of us!

...the first draw!!! Colin's name was called! Overall we got 2 great raffle items but most important was the cause of the evening.

I just found out that approximately 26,000 pesos have been raised.  There was 5000 pesos left over from last year so a total of approximately 32,000 pesos has been raised to help the less fortunate on the Isla. That is close to $2500.00 USD  😆  Fantastic!  If any of you my wonderful readers wish to contribute, please send me an email.  I know that this total means that more families will be helped and hopefully the children that need eye glasses will also benefit.  I understand that each child on the Isla that needed shoes last year received some.  We do try to make a difference here on the Isla.

Please forgive the lateness of this post but we had six new arrivals to RV 1 today!!!

    That’s quite the crowd.
I know *someone* who would be freaking out if there were a gecko or iguana hanging around.
