Shop till you drop….
…what else are you going to do when it’s over 100F out there. We checked out of the Yuma RV Park about 11:00AM and drove to Walmart, about five minutes away. By now we had the generator running and the A/C going. So I shopped for things mostly needed but some not and of course food items to get us thru the next five days. Colin tried to walk the girls but it was too hot for them to walk on the pavement.
Best buy…new camera case for my new camera.
What next….well it seemed we needed fuel yet again. Maybe the generator is burning more than we realize. Good cash price for diesel at Love’s in Yuma @ 3.759/gallon.
We then finally decided to head to Quartzite where we meandered with the RV from one of the few still open store/outlets to the next. FYI, it is hard to meander with an RV. If those merchants want our business I suggest that they advertise parking for RV’s. We somehow managed to spend $100.00 over two hours in three places. In fact we went back to the first place for a second time and spent the final $48.00 on outdoor dog beds of all things. We bought two the first time and I got to thinking that these would be perfect for the Isla as they are washable, so we went back and got four more. Now what? Drive to Parker where we have a 9:00AM appointment ( only 40 miles away ) to get the front end air repaired or just stay in the BLM lands here in the big Q. We decided to stay here in Q.
The forecast is two more days of 100 degree temps and we should be out of here just as they start to fall. Our weather station shows that it is a mere 1% humidity outside. That must be why my nails have all broken in the past few days.
So another night just hanging out but not really relaxing. The shopping therapy did help but I am now ready to drop….literally.

That’s just too hot! We’re in southern Washington, and it’s still a balmy 17C at 8:30. Pretty nice temps, and even nicer in K Town.
We’ll be there tomorrow, and then the work begins. Back to real life I guess.
Have a safe trip.
Good luck with the A/C in Parker. Those guys are good! What is with the overhead A/C? Is it working again?
Hola Croft….we got the overhead A/C repaired in Yuma, not a big deal.
Connie…a hard sided case really protects the camera. I just wish this new camera was a tad smaller.
George…so sad to see the town closing up.
Cheryl..thanks for the recommendations at Parker….we stopped just before and after. Our favorite place there is Buckskin State Park.
Suzanne….glad you like my new purchases. As to Q I never noticed any solar installers. The town is really packing up and shutting down. As a last resort check with Spankys RV in Parker for a recommendation.
Susie….no I have not been there but I have seen photos on another blog. Are you suggesting I go take his naked photo 🙂
Kathy….now we both have to see if our blog photos improve. In my case I can only hope so.
I really like that camera case – might have to get me one.
You know what they say – shop till you drop!
Fingers crossed on the A/C problems!!
Nice to get around the Q and pick up a few things. Good luck with your repairs.
It’s hot, but it’s a DRY heat. Las Cruces is comfortable this time of year and I think the temperature got up to about 85 degrees yesterday.
When it’s this dry, I have a problem with my heels wearing sandals – they get really dry and crack. The only thing to do is slather on heel cream (or just Vaseline) and wear socks to bed every night.
If you drive through Parker, you might consider staying at the La Paz County Campground. There’s a great little bar there called the Thirsty Pirate with a great happy hour and good food right on the water.
That is one snazzy camera case!! To go with one nice camera!
You didn’t see any solar installers around Q, did you? I am about a week behind you…but would love to find someone to install along the way…
Ever check out book store in Quartsite and meet the owner? Looking for a new camera will check this one out, love the case .. Cheers!
Hi Contessa:
We’re twins I bought the same camera on sale at Best Buy just before we left Yuma. Good to know you like it!
