Quiet long weekend
We took the girls for a walk this morning and the park doesn’t look like it is a holiday weekend. Not many folks out & about and certainly no one at any of the pools. It is a warm 19C but overcast with a cool wind. The next few days will bring rain. Glad we can stay inside and watch the wind and the waves. Looks like it is going to be a weekend to get caught up on laundry & cleaning and the odd chore.
I spoke with my Dad a few times this week. There is only one pay phone on the floor he is on in the hospital and he says it is always in use. I wish that I could talk to him whenever I want but he no longer has a cell phone by choice and does not want a phone in his room. So I have to rely on him to call me from time to time. He says that he is happy there and feels that he is getting a very thorough assessment. So far he has been told that he is below normal in agility and movement. They have given him several, new to him exercises which he feels will help strengthen him. Meanwhile he is not allowed to even walk 6 steps unsupervised to the bathroom and that is using his walker. He has to ring for a nurse to go anywhere including to the pay phone. The patients there wear their own clothes and take meals in a common area. They have also arranged for a specialist to come and check his hernia and someone to check his hearing. I’m fairly certain that they won’t let him go back home until he is rehabilitated and able to continue living on his own.
Hope you are having a great Saturday wherever you are. I’m off to curl up with a book.

That’s interesting on your gas price increase. It also went up exactly 10 cents in the small town in Indiana that I live in.
Hello Steve, welcome to the comment section of my blog. Maybe there is a something afoot by the powers that be 🙂
Prayers for your Papa, Contessa! Our gas prices went up in PA recently, too. Cute pic of Colin and Carmeh and of course the ducks and geese, too! I love quiet, don’t you? At least once in awhile!!!
Connie, I appreciate your prayers for my Dad. Interesting about the gas prices going up all over at the same time. We love the quiet and just listening to nature. It doesn’t get any better than that.
Hi Contesa
We have been in SW Ontario since May 2nd
will venture north to Atikokan in a week and a bit

we are enjoying our time with grandkids
Nancy and Randy
Hola Nancy, great to hear from you. So happy to hear that you are having an extended ‘southern vacation’. I guess when you finally go home you will experience spring all over again and get to see the geese and their offspring. Nice that you got that extra time with the grandkids. Is gas really that high up there? Let me know when you get home. Please check in from time to time over the summer. Always good to hear from you. Hope to see you on the Isla next winter, meanwhile enjoy your Northern paradise.
Not so quiet here, but then this is a Family resort, great place for children. But usually pretty quiet during the week.
Our Gas pice here in town was only $1.31 a litre yesterday, but our coach only odes short trips every week or so. The tank is still half full from the last fill up in the U.S.a month ago.
Hey George…..I have seen a few kids here but not as many which is unusual. Once school is out this place will be packed with kids in the pools and riding their bikes everywhere. They do keep 2 of the 4 pools open for adults only which is nice. We filled our diesel tank before we left the US and it will stay full until we leave in October and get us back into the US.
