Que Pasa

Good news, Colin found Caeli’s escape route.  She was digging under the fence in the middle of the cedar hedge.  The only thing that gave the spot away was some kicked up gravel.  Glad that issue has been resolved.

I saw my eye doctor today and sadly there has been no healing at all since June 17th.  Even worse is that she can detect the beginning of the same problem in my right eye.  So I am now adding cortisone eye drops to the mix of other things I am doing.  I go back in two weeks for another check.

Before I forget, I would like to wish all of our American friends….

.. a very special celebration today.

Last week we had arranged for someone to check out our A/C unit for the house.  It is only 2 years old and we only used it a few times last summer but when we used it for the first time this year it seemed to be not quite as cold as it should be.  The fellow told me that the unit had not been ‘dialed’ in right when it was set up.  He further discovered that is was down 48 oz. of refrigerant.  So either it was never filled totally when it was set up or we have a leak.  I hope it’s not the latter as the cost to repair it would start at $700.00.  So now we will keep an eye on it for the rest of the summer.  He told me that it did not matter that it was almost new because human error was the cause of most problems.  For instance today he got 6 calls to come repair six different brand new A/C units sold by Sears.  Not a one had any coolant in them.  Problem direct from the factory.

I did not have my camera with me this morning while walking the dogs.  It’s impossible to juggle 2 leashes and a poop bag, never mind a camera and so I missed some very cute photos.  The girls treed a squirrel  and it kept teasing them.  It would come halfway down the trunk and wait for them to start barking before it ran up the tree once again.  This went on for about 15 minutes before I could get them to continue the walk.

Because it was warm today I opened the windows in the bedroom at the bottom as well as at the top which is my norm. What I didn't realize was that that gave Carmeh a view down the road.

When Colin came home this afternoon she spied his car way up the street and started barking.  I think she liked that she could look out from the bed where she hangs out when we are gone.

Once Colin was properly greeted by the girls they took off in the yard while we compared notes of how the day had gone thus far.  Suddenly Caeli was barking her “look what I found bark”.  We told her to stop but she wouldn’t so Colin went out to check.  Often they will catch a glimpse of a snake in the rocks as it slithers past.  She would not stop her noise so Colin lifted a rock to check and there was the snake.  In a split second she had the snake in her mouth and was shaking from side to side.

Colin said the snake had blood on it and did not appear too alive. He threw it into the lake. She was very proud of herself.

We used to have a doxie who hunted mice but only ever caught the one.  It was a good day for the girls today, a squirrel and a snake  😀

      ~ thanks George.

~ maybe you can deal with 3 doxies but not me, no way. Love the info about your fur babies.

~ Thanks Croft, i is fairly recent and made worse by the computer.

~ I really did think about you and Arthur, so glad you were spared. I love you also.

~ thank you Heather, so nice to hear from you. Hugs from me.

Well, you’re never in any danger of getting attacked by random snakes or squirrels. Sorry to hear about the eye situation.

  3. Good luck with the eye issue.

Not such good news about the eyes; hope you see some improvement real soon. You can manage two dachsies, a poop bag, and a camera…..I do it with three but then my pictures are not as good as yours. My three get plenty of squirrel action in their yard as we have several trees and a wood fence. It is funny to watch them. There are very specific rules to their game. Gretchen is the general and it is so obvious and funny to watch her directing the maneuvers. Harley is the good lieutenant following the orders. Willy is the couch potato coming only when she gives a specific call to arms bark. When we first got Harley….Gretchen and Willy were horrified when he didn’t follow the game rules and managed to get some fur. Gretchen is right on their tails but you can see her put on the breaks if the squirrel is stupid enough to slow down in front of her. Heidi was our snake alert dachshund before she passed on.

Take care of that eye issue Contessa. I will have to read back in the Blog to get a better idea of what is happening. Animals will find a way in or out of wherever they want. Seal up one and they will be looking for another. It is that old, “The grass is always greener…” thing.

Thanks, Contessa, for the Happy 4th of July wish – we appreciate your thoughtfulness! We are at our summer home in Delaware and Hurricane Arthur was good to us and passed by with only rain showers. That’s good because the farm crops here were getting pretty dry. Oh, your girls are just too smart and cute! Hope you get to the bottom of your eye issue – sending prayers your way – take care now!!! Love you!
