Twas the night before Christmas….

..and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse!  Well except maybe an iguana!  He came back home for the holidays!

After listening to two hours of  thumping, faint scratching and movement on the other side of the head of the bed wall we had had enough!  The dogs were on high alert, growling and shaking in anticipation of a big catch!  Colin went out and did some investigating and found a hole he had not seen a few weeks ago when we had these nocturnal visits!

Hole is above the radiator expansion tank.

So he sprayed some Raid up the hole, hoping this would get the critter out!  For those who may  be upset at this, you need to be aware that the various mice, cats or tropical animals can create major damage in an RV, sometimes to the point of rendering it motionless.  They love to eat wiring. Unfortunately the smell of the Raid permeated the bedroom so we closed it off and finally settled on the sofa about 4:00AM!!

In the morning we found bits of insulation on the ground. The tiny blue pieces are mouse bait that the critter had knocked over.

A bit later I noticed paw prints on some of the dog bedding stored under the awning for the night.

Looks more like cat prints to me....

While I was getting my hair done on Monday Colin was trying to find steel wool to stuff the hole but no go.  Finally he used a wire screen that  Carl, our great neighbor had on hand.  It took some tricky moves but Colin did get the mesh screwed over the hole.

Half in, half out!

Step one completed!

Another item Colin picked up in town was spray foam used to fill little crevices.

So here we are three nights later and so far we are critter free.  Well except for some tiny sugar ants who are looking for the Sugar Plum Fairy!  They will be dealt with quickly!
