Blame it on the full moon

We have had very high surf and lots of wave action.

We have had very high surf and lots of wave action.

The moon wasn’t just affecting the ocean.  I just didn’t feel like posting.  If I had any spare time from my constant calls and emails I spent it reading.  Heck I even turned down two dinner invites for Tuesday, one in town at an Indian restaurant that I have been wanting to try.  I just didn’t want to leave home.

There was so much energy in the air and I preferred to sit and sip and watch the ocean.

THis was supposed to be a restaurant but never quite got completed. Maybe next year. It also happens to be the place the surfers hang out

This was supposed to be a restaurant but it never quite got completed. Maybe next year. It also happens to be the place the surfers hang out as it is almost directly across from the highest waves.

Tuesday and Wednesday they stayed out in the water till almost dark. These were some early birds going back home. Yes that is a cruise ship in the background.

Tuesday and Wednesday they stayed out in the water till almost dark. These were some early birds going back home. Yes that is a cruise ship in the background.  We had two in this week.

The tides were very high and very low. This is the first time I have notices that the tide went right up to the berm.

The constant wave action created some fun ridges all along the beach.

The constant wave action created some fun ridges all along the beach.  They were more extreme but because of the salt spray in the air I didn’t bring the camera on the first few days.

The girls loved to sniff all along making for a fun walk for them.

Up and down and back and forth.

We normally walk earlier in the morning but because of the time of high tide we aren't walking until after 10:20 AM which makes it rather warm for the girls. They do a ot of pantiong.

Today at 10:00AM it is already 82F inside the RV and 77F outside under the palapa.  Looks like we are going to have another prefect day in paradise.  We are never too warm because of the ocean breeze.  It has been a busy last few days.  I found out that I can no longer get access online to Dad’s estate bank account which makes it difficult for me to check about deposits, etc.  I now have to call in to check things which is a real pain.  The nursing home was supposed to have refunded 18 days to his bank account and as of yesterday they hadn’t.  Call the bank, call the nursing home and back and forth.  I was expecting a deposit from another source and that hasn’t happened.  Dad’s van was sold yesterday but even depositing the money into the estate account required a trip to Dad’s bank and a special exception made.  The powers that be certainly don’t make it easy.  I can’t even get the lawyer to call me back nor respond to my many emailed questions.

Some good news is that the condo has been emptied and cleaned.  It is ready for the new owners who take possession on Tuesday.  Hopefully that money will be deposited with little problem.  The mechanico in Culiacan can’t repair our car so instead took the broken sensor and air filter off the engine and declared that Colin will be able to drive it as is.  The only problem will be that it will take more fuel to drive it.  So Colin will drive it back here and next week we will check with the dealer about how safe it is to drive and to tow back to Canada.  Some bad news is that I seem to have broken my eyeglasses yesterday.  I have no idea how that might have happened but suddenly they just weren’t sitting right on my ears.  Fortunately I have a back up pair with my current lens prescription in them so I going to be fine.  I was contemplating getting a new pair this year  😎  Decision made.

This week has passed quickly and I haven’t even got half of what I wanted to do done.  I did take some time each day for myself to read, I enjoyed a few visitors and a dinner out here on the Isla with Rae where she very generously let me have the last of the shrimp.

Time to head to the beach, it’s 10:30AM and the girls are eager to head out.  I leave you with this photo, taken a few days ago.

  1. It is amazing how the full moon affects the tide! I believe just before we left the Isla there was a full moon as well and I remember how high the tide got then.

I can’t even imagine trying to sort things out with your Dad’s estate from there, I remember my Dad having to try and sort things out when my mother died and he was at home. They really don’t make things easy.

It is a lot to do Ruth but I had done all of the preliminary work while I was still in Canada and had pre signed blank forms with the lawyer. It took me hours and hours then. Of course I have it all with me here in the RV. I am surprised at how much time it is still taking on a daily basis. Poco a poco.

Poco a poco. Great to see you post. Mean set of waves and I bet the girls had a blast. I hope the car can be fixed. Is it for lack of parts? Maybe we can check, find them and send them to you. Let me know.

Every call to the lawyer costs money. i only used the lawyer for the sale of the condo, used an accountant to settle her tax obligations. Funny thing, mumsie’s estate account I never had a passbook or a statement, after I settled things up and paid my brothers I just went into hybernation mode. I left four hundred bucks in the account and veged. Two years later I thought I should close the account. Imagine my shock when I discovered they had been charging fees for all that time with no activity going on, well I had a few choice things to say and when they realized I was never issued a passbook or a statement they refunded me all my service charges. So glad it is all behind me, now if I can only sort out the four boxes of her stuff!!!!
    Take care Contessa and cheers.

  5. These things can be very frustrating and time consuming but in time things will all work out. Good luck.

Hola Chris, thanks for the offer but it seems that if Colin doesn’t go over 90kmph it is fine, a bit of shifting from first to second is a harder shift but it seems okay. We will check with the dealer tomorrow. The thing is we don’t even know if it was correctly diagnosed.

I always appreciate your input Shelagh, it helps. Good luck with sorting through her things. Time is a healer.

Thanks George. You are right thinks do eventually work out.
