We managed to drive yet another 80 miles

It remained windy and cool yesterday morning in Quartzsite.  It certainly was great for sleeping at night.  Carmeh was anxious to get out and hunt first thing in the morning.

First they cuddled together in the sun coming in the window to warm up.

Then Colin put on a heavy jacket to go sti outside and supervise Carmeh while Caeli and I stayed inside.

We finally went for a long walk despite the cold.  I put on capri pants and wore a heavy jacket as well.  Last year when we were here it was way warmer and even at 4:00AM it was still 77F with all the windows open ( don’t ask how I know that 🙂 ).  Such a change in the weather this year.  There must be a cold front North of here.

Our RV always looks good in the desert light.

Our RV always looks good in the desert light.  Funny we never have given a name to our rig as so many other RVers have chosen to do with their RV’s.

A much cheaper price for water than we paid in Yuma.

A strange location for a picnic. They are literally on the side of the road.

Our first stop was Parker to pick up a few groceries at Safeway including our duty free alcohol purchases.  I find the prices there to be very reasonable.  Colin found some nice dog toys at a great price at the Dollar Store.  By the way that large gravel lot across from Safeway is being turned into a gas station.  There is plenty of parking behind the Safeway store and you can get out the other end near McDonald’s without having to turn around.  Good thing we filled up our propane in the big Q @ 2.40/gallon because in Parker and Lake Havasu it was 2.99/gallon.  We only used 7.8 gallons all winter on the Isla.  We use electric for the fridge as well as hot water.

From there we continued North to Lake Havasu.

Good shot of the Colorado RIver with Buckskin State Park beach on the right. We used to cam;p there all the toime but not the last few years.

The reason for the short drive this day was to get to the 3T’s RV Repair facility.  We have used them in the past to once replace our jack springs and another time to replace our balancing cylinder ( used to regulate our hydraulic slides ) and now we needed a new brain and a new motor.

Our steps broke on our way to the Isla last December and this is how we had to travel. If you recall, Eric our RV guy in Mexico repaired the motor but we also required a new brain.

So here we are set up at 4:30PM waiting.

Our appointment is for 7:30AM Thursday so it stands to reason to take advantage of their free electricity and wifi.  However we did not know that we would be quite so close to this guy.  We are situated on a level pad on the very sloping driveway built just for overnight purposes.

One of the perks is the great view of the Colorado River.

Colin took our sunscreen off so we could the sun set. Love the reflection.

Will this be our last sunset this trip?

I hope not but we did savor it just in case.

You’ve never just pulled over somewhere for lunch? That spot looks like prime real estate to me! I would have pulled quite a bit further off the road, though.

Of course we pull over for lunch, just not on the shoulder of road. There was prime BLM land they could have pulled over onto less than a mile down the road.

  2. We have stopped at various places for lunch, off ramps, empty parking lots, whatever works for us.
Making progress along the way and getting things done.

I hope your motorhome lasts forever. The nicest layout and interior I have ever seen. Now about the name. You could start a contest and as names come in people could vote for the best name. It would be a fun thing to do over the summer. Be safe and have fun. Is your cell phone working?

I know you love our RV as much as we do. Maybe we will leave it you in our will 🙂 Cute idea about the name the RV contest. I will think about it. Meanwhile I will email you about the cell phone.
