It was a sunny Sunday

Despite being worn out from lack of sleep Sunday turned out to be a nice day.  Jannose had invited us in for a pancake breakfast. First thing she said ‘you sure look tired’ 😯  Turns out she never even heard the thunderstorm that kept us awake most of the night.

Missed taking photos of the food as it was being ingested rather quickly. Jannose makes everything fro scratch from her sald dressings to her pancakes and the strawberry jam to put on top of them. She is a fabulous cook.

Jannose makes everything from scratch, from her salad dressings to her pancakes and the strawberry jam to put on top of them and more.  She is a fabulous cook.  From left to right, myself, Colin, Jannose, her mom Diane and Colin.  It did get confusing calling out to Colin.  They usually both answered.

Rather than go for a walk it we sat out on the deck and absorpbed the heat of the sun.

After breakfast, rather than go for a walk,  we sat out on the deck and absorbed the heat of the sun.  Carmeh is sitting in the chair with me while Caeli roamed the huge lawn.  Caeli would have been happy to stay and never leave.  My Colin was slowly getting the RV ready to leave.

We took our time but were ready to drive out shortly after 11:30AM.  Between the two Colins some creative maneuvering was done and we were able to hook up while still on their driveway.  Sad to say adios to good friends but we hope to see them at our pace in Kelowna in September.

We had a whopping 48KM to drive

We had a whopping 48Km/30 miles to drive to our next stop.

Rainbow Valley Campground is right in the heart of the city of Edmonton, Alberta.  It only has 40 electric sites and most are surrounded by trees.  However it is only 15AMP with no water nor dump at your site.  We did fill with water at the other Colin’s place and dumped at the one sani station here as we came in.  The charge though is a whopping $34.00 per night plus tax and they don’t serve dinner or breakfast 🙄   We could have stayed on the acreage in Stony Plain but this is more convenient for what is planned for the next few days.

Once we set up we took the girls for a walk.

Once we set up we took the girls for a walk.  There is a lovely nature trail right next to the park.

It overlooks Whitemud Creek and is used by many hikers and joggers. No bikes allowed.

CAeli walked ahead most eagerly and Carmeh's nose was sniffing from the stoller.

The sun was shining and we were happy campers. It was warm enough to change into one of my sundresses and just sit out with a book. The clousd came in after and hour but those 60 minutes to me were precious.

Everyday we do see an improvement in Carmeh.  She is much steadier on all four legs.  One of her back legs is worse than the other but time will tell if it will recover or not.  She is able to do her outside business much easier now and that is so important to us.  However with feeling better comes her desire to keep on going.  Yesterday afternoon she managed to get herself standing upright in the pen.  Not good.  So now just leaving her in the pen alone might become a problem.  She has been on pain meds three times a day for a week now and I feel I should start to wean her from them.

  1. I am so glad it seems Carmeh is getting a little better every day – but fully understand what it is like to try and handle a dog with an injury when they start to get better. It’s like herding cats! lol

I’m so happy precious Carmeh is improving. I’m envious of people who can cook from scratch, but I can mix a mean margarita! 😉

Thanks for the kind words regarding my cooking. It was my pleasure. Your site looks nice and great that you are close to walking trails. Enjoy the rest of your stay and the good weather.

Glad to know Carmeh is getting better and that the trip is going well. I stayed at Rainbow Valley went I was in Edmonton with the RV in ’08. I really liked the location in that you’re close to everything but still feel out in nature, but I found it really expensive since they don’t have FHU. Glad to know someone else agrees!

We have noticed that a truck have come in every day to pump out the sani dump as well as each of the two bathrooms. So that tells me that they likely only have holding tanks below ground and that could be part of the reason for the high fee. Nice to be close to the city though.

  5. Thats great Carmeh is improving, we love moving around to different places and especially short travel days too.

Unlike you we prefer to stay put for a longer period but this makes for a nice change. We’ll see how the rest of the week goes.
