Mazatlan updates…
~Great news today….for the first time in almost 2 weeks we have a cruise ship in port. I stand corrected, there were two cruise ships in today. We are happy to see activity on the beach. Colin spoke with a couple from the ship who are from Sacramento and they say they feel safe and that crime does happen everywhere and that a few ‘incidents’ are not reason enough to cancel port calls to Mazatlan. Our beach vendors are working the playa trying to make a few sales. Buena suerte!
~Our mouse hunting days are over…no other sightings, sniffs or nibbles! Just the one catch!
~However our neighbors have had a second tlacuache critter in the basement of their 5th wheel. Now that it is gone they are doing some serious renovations!
~Do you remember the cruise ship tourist who fell in a hole in the sidewalk in early December? His proper name is Gary Reming and he finally got out of hospital just a few weeks ago. He had several operations and is now getting around in a wheelchair. Thanks for the update Rena!
~Then there is the fellow from Penticton, the one who was shot in the knee on January 16th here in Mazatlan, he is back in Canada and had another surgery just four days ago.
~Remember the concert on January 8th here in the Isla by the Dueto Soberanes? Here is a link to an article on a friend of theirs from Gusave, Dona Tere and her lovely home facing the Angela Peralta Theater here in Mazatlan.
~I am still dealing with my head cold but am being well attended to by my fur babies and wonderful hubby who is cooking, cleaning etc while I concentrate on breathing!
~Just had another RVer check in, we are possibly expecting another 3 rigs later this week. Good for Tres Amigos. Even before these new arrivals we are only about 20% down from last season. Not bad considering the big picture!

Thats good that things are looking up now you just get better. We are now in Casa Grande, only 4 days thou, and they haven’t kicked us out yet!
I’ve walked right where that guy fell through! Wow!
Soooo-is this super caution by the cruise ships all from the guy that got shot in the leg? I agree with the Sacramento couple-crime is everywhere and they would know, being from California. We met another couple from Sacramento last year who live in Mazatlan. Dan and Sue said the very same thing-California has more crime than Mexico. There’s a difference between getting caught in a crossfire and a drive-by shooting. Both bad, but this world is not the safest place anymore.
No, the cruise ship thing is in response to an assault, an attempted necklace snatching and a stolen computer….all cruise ship people. However in the background is the fact that the state of Sinaloa has imposed a hefty head tax per cruise ship passenger recently imposed. We have heard that a one day docking here in Mazatlan is close to 60,000.00USD per day versus 20,000.00USD per day in Puerto Vallarta. I have no facts to support these figures. Perhaps the cruise ship companies are using the ‘incidents’ as an excuse to increase their profit???
Soooo glad for the vendors and Maz. that ships are back. Their was a quadapedric man from Canada who was parking his car in Palm Desert who was hit on head and car taken, while wife was waiting in restaurant!!! Crazy and sick world..
I saw it on the news…and they think Mexico is dangerous!!!!!
