Que pasa two & some problems
Yesterday we were at the vet for the girls annual checkup and required shots. Our vet suggested that the reason Caeli might be so very sluggish is because of a thyroid problem. We both thought that it really was just who Caeli was. However, being the good parents that we are, we went with the suggested blood work. So $220.00 later we found out today that her blood work is 100%. The actual total vet bill was just over $660.00 😥
Oh well $220.00 on the dog and $1200.00 on my car 😯 Colin noticed that I was dripping oil ( not me but my BMW roadster ) on the driveway. So he took it in. Turns out I had an oil leak from the valve cover gasket and then once they repaired that they found I also had a warped valve gasket cover. Apparently this is a common problem with the Z3. Methinks we might be selling the mighty beast next summer.
Then today we picked up our RV. Haven’t had a moment to tell you that we are having a few reno’s done. First problem, the cost was 3 times the original quote. Details and photos when I have more time.
Finally got the RV home today complete with mouse turds all over and dead bugs adding to the decor. Rather then put it back in storage Colin called a friend and asked to use his site for the next two weeks. We will pay for the use as well as the electricity. It is just 1/2 block away from us ( Chris & Juan stayed there last year ) and that was a great decision on Colin’s part as it is so close.
Once we got back here, it took both of us on two different phone lines, over two hours to deal with all the sudden business issues. The jobs are still coming in and we have managed to give out two to our ‘apprentice’, say no to another and yes to two others. Colin is off on a 10 hour shoot tomorrow in Enderby. My job is to collect the outstanding receivables this week and that is not going too well 👿 Finally Colin had a moment to get back to the RV to check things out. 50% of the electrical plugs don’t work not to mention the generator, etc. Fortunately we were able to get an RV tech to come out on Saturday to check things over. So there is a huge amount of cleaning to be done as well as troubleshooting. Still hoping to leave two weeks from today but……..
No worries, we will be heading south, hopefully on the 4th as expected. On the positive side, at least we have an RV to travel in and we have a job that allows us the privilege to do so. One day at a time.
Can’t believe it but for the first time in 27 years we are off to bed at 9PM…..exhausted.

Good grief!
Well said!
Speak of mouse turds … I opened the passenger side door to my FJ yesterday to put the new insurance cards in the glove box and I see a nice pile of insulation on my floor mat. The mice must be busy. Last winter they built a nice insulation nest in my Mini Cooper engine compartment. I guess it’s never good to let vehicle sit for any length of time.
Heidi’s blood work came back 100% last June. For the price I paid and for her health, I was hoping that blood work would provide me and the vet some answers.
Sounds like you are extremely busy before your departure date.
These mice came from where the RV was been worked on, a woodsy area. the even has bear come around on a regular basis. I just hope that our electrical problems are non mice related.
You all need to get some FRESH CAB!!!
I put 6 little pouches of it in our RV last year, and not one mouser homesteaded. Great stuff, a bit pricey but very well worth it.
Google Fresh Cab, call the North Dakota number and order to have it dropped at an RV park along the route or, I think you can find it at a Farmer’s Supply type of store too.
Never heard of it before. Thank you Kay. Actually that is what I do, anything I order goes to an RV park along the way.
Getting things together to hit the road, then away ya go.
Colin is doing one more full day shot today and that is his last. Next will be figuring out why we have these major electrical issues.
It always seems that problems arise just when we are trying to get out of town. Fingers are crossed for you to be able to leave as planned and that everything goes really well with your fur babies. Seems like every time we go to the vet anymore it’s $500 to $1000 dollars.
Thanks Sandie. Part of why the bill was so high is that I bought pain meds for Carmeh just in case (:
I’ve started to take a different look at money.
In my heart, I know that if I emptied out my bank account and it would help my precious Cali I would do so. At least you know now that there’s nothing wrong with your Caeli.
As for your RV, I’ve finally decided that owning an RV is a “cash cow.” You never know what’s going to go wrong and how much it’s going to cost to fix it. However, they’re wonderful “mobile houses” that allow us to chase our dreams and live the lifestyle we want.
It seems I went through a lot of money this past summer, but I’m thankful that at least I have to “means” to pay for what needs fixing.
Relax, take a deep breath, and have a refreshing glass of wine – all will be well…
Well the thing is, our RV was in perfect working order when we brought it in for the reno’s. Now we have major electrical issues as well as the brand new batteries that were put in the week before we took it in are no longer charging. Something happened that is not our fault.
