Yet another great day

To start with, a few answers to your comments.  Please understand that while on the road and with the number of miles we drive per day there just is not enough time to get back to you on your comments.  We do love your thoughts as they are often of a great help to us, sometimes emotionally and other times technically.  Right now I find just getting a post done each evening is a huge accomplishment. First off, yes we only have single pane windows, we had no choice when we bought this RV new way back in 2oo1.  Al, great idea re the heat strip, will do some research when we have time and get more info via email down the road.  Good observation Sally, we actually came up with the concept when we had our RV repainted in Indiana seven years ago.  We were a first and I think others may be doing it now.

Our primary concern is safety and we have never overloaded our RV over the specifications.  So all the ‘stuff’ that we put into it is just up to standard.  We do use special truck tires that allow us to carry the load that we do, as well as give us a better ride.

Up at 6AM today MST, which means that was 5AM PST 🙁  WE switched the clocks before we went to bed last night.  I think that was the easiest way to absorb the change.  However I was tired this morning but pushed myself to get up.  It has been a long haul to date but so worth it to get out of the cold.

I wonder how many people who come to Vegas appreciate the beauty of the area.

Such a beautiful drive as we headed further south.

We start these early mornings with a hot drink and then stop after 60 -90 minutes to feed the girls. Today it was at an air strip on the California, Arizona, Nevada borders.

Today was a Sunday and it was really neat to see all these planes flying in to the restaurant for breakfast. First time in over the years that we have seen any action on the airstrip.

It wasn't long before we hit the California border and the immediate decrease in the quality of highway.

By the way how on earth do you all survive using laptops?  This is the first trip that I am not hauling out my desktop every night.  I do love the convenience of the laptop, especially when I have to look up an address or an alternate route but to do a blog post 😯  It must be my sensitive eye problem but this is driving me nuts.  I have had major eye pain the last two days which is why my posts are not as detailed.

Yeah we made it to Lake Havasu City. Stopped for some things at Walmart. Saw this old thing as we drove on, could it be my next car? Don't think so but it would be a sweet ride.

Lake Havasu State Park.

Lake Havasu State Park.  Dogs not allowed on the beach, but we can walk right beside it.

OMG, what a beauty! All the years we have been coming to this city and we had no idea this existed.

The view from out site which pleases us to no end. Yet you can get much, much better sites for the same price. Of course you have to reserve those sites but it is certainly worth it. We are wiriting down the preferred site numbers for next time.

We are writing down the preferred site numbers for next time. Cost is $30.00 per night for electric and water, there is a dump station in the park.  If you make a reservation there is an additional $5.00 fee.  Sometimes it is well worth paying for a site as opposed to boondocking.

FIrst we had a walk, then set up and then just sat and relaxed.

Well, well!! I do believe I see some shorts being worn!! You are definitely getting there, aren’t you?

Looking forward to all your lovely Mazatlan posts. Doug & I will definitely make an effort to get in to you guys when we get to Mazatlan. We are planning on leaving White Rock around Dec 27th. With our little VW Westie, we find it pretty easy to get most anywhere but we will watch for your road into the Isla updates.

Can hardly wait to get into shorts as well!! Grey and rainy here for the past week.

Travel safe and keep those posts a-comin’!!

    Cheers!

Glad you are finally getting down to some warmth. The thing in the air is a paraplane. Looks like a go-cart dangling from a parachute. My DH had one, taught himself to fly it watching a video.

So happy to see you are in the land of sunshine and no frozen windows. Sometimes hookups are just a blessing. I think Tuesday is supposed to be pretty breezy – not sure where you’ll be but keep an eye on it. Safe travels.

  4. Love my Mac Book pro, 13 inch, keep it at arms length on the table, and love the touch pad as opposed to the mouse, did not take long for me to adjust. 10 years now.
Nice to see you getting warm weather, amazing some of the gems you can uncover along the way, enjoy.

You are really making time. Will be interested to read about the roads from Hermosillo to Maz.

Ditched my desk top years ago!

Loved my Dell laptop with a mouse – just because – didn’t think I would like a touch screen.

Now hooked on my Apple iPad and love, love, love it!

So handy for reading local newspapers online, e-mail, Facebook, Twitter, Blogs, searching for info, looking for recipes, paying bills, sending messages, checking weather, shopping online, banking, FaceTime with family, making reservations, taking pics with the camera, listening to music, watching granddaughter’s college soccer games (when we can’t go), just to name a few things.

Add to that my Apple iPhone and I have everything I need – just grab and go – can plug both into the USB ports in our Jeep if needed.

Might not work for writing a blog. I know you use and need other things like using different cameras for taking pics when doing that.

Call me old fashioned but when it comes to reading books and magazines, those I like to have in my hands!
