Last day in the USA

Woke up to 40F, cool.  After tonight we will only be basked in warmth 😀   Beautiful blue sky and once it warmed up we had a good morning walk.  Not in a rush to head out as it is yet another short travel day.  We are now a mere 801 miles from reaching paradise.  A bit concerned about “the road” but there are 3 or 4 rigs coming into Tres Amigos Friday or Saturday so I should have a recent heads up as to conditions.

We never left Picacho Peak until almost noon, made a final stop at a Walmart for any last minute items including anti itch stuff for Rae.  Finally got to our final resting spot for the night at about 3:25PM.  Staying tonight at the Passport America Mountain View RV Park in Amado, AZ, about 42 Km north of the Mexican border.

Colin took this of Carmeh as she was peeking around the slide in it's in position.

I took this one of Caeli yesterday, she had her Santa hat in her mouth.

One of the many camp hosts at Picacho Peak, this guy is serious about his shade.

Hopefully someone knows what type of bird this is.

He then flew up into the priclky stuff.

I snapped this this morning. As you can see, there are going to lots of Carmeh shots this winter. Sadly she jumped up the sofa twice today rather than use the ramp. We can only put the guides in place but there is not way we can anticipate her every move.

We can only put the guides in place but there is no way we can anticipate her every move.  She is a free spirit and we have to respect that.

Taken just North of Tuscon. Are these cotton fields?

Finally, there it is, the sign we have been waiting for.

Those dark peaks are in Mexico. We will driving through them tomorrow.

But first it was time for a very tasty Mexican dinner out.

With friends Rochelle and Michael. You will be seeing more of them in December when they come visit at the Isla for a month.

Yet another short day, only 79 miles. We will certainly make up for that over the next two, long driving days

We are off at 6:45AM.  The next post, if all goes according to plan will come to you from San Carlos, Sonora.  However I just now realized that tomorrow is Friday, November 13th 😯  I didn’t even think about it till a moment ago.  So will it be good luck or the other?  Stay tuned.

You’re looking good these days, lady! Jealous, we’ll be spending winter in the cold. Enjoy!

  2. Suzanne says:

“Yes, definitely cotton fields,” said the farmer’s daughter. Wishing you smooth sailing across la frontera!

  3. Enjoy the trip and San Carlos, we enjoyed that area as well.Assume you stay at Totonaka.

The bird is a Cactus Wren. Arizona’s state bird.

Coolidge Arizona, where we had our house was surrounded by lots of cotton fields as well as casa grande

was interesting to watch the harvest , and there are mills or gins near by too

only problem is that Randy gets real stuffy with allergies when harvesting and the flies are bad , which are good for the fields to rid the bull weavel , so we were told

lots of interesting articles on the internet

didn’t know that Arizona was one of the leading states for cotton production, they even have a festival or sort of a fair and parade

safe travels , Jon Lickers and Joan said the roads are rougher this year, so be careful

We will be interested in reading about the roads down there. In a couple of weeks we’ll be on the way to Mazatlan. Bill says it is too cold for him here in Vegas…Have to finish up our doctors appts before we can leave. And I want to see the final NASCAR race.
Do you use the TelCel stick for Internet there?

It really is hard to completely contain the girls. They think they feel good and should be able to do anything they want. Not possible to protect them always. I love the peek around the slide pic. Skittlez gives me that same look when she looks out from behind Jim’s chair.

Have a great border crossing and I’m hoping the road isn’t too bad for you.

Remember that Friday the 13th doesn’t exist in Mexico. For us it is Martes 13 (Tuesday the 13) so you’re in good shape 🙂

Not many comments, so felt I had to leave something and wish you well, sorry you are leaving the States, But you are heading to nicer weather, warmer at least, then to setting up and getting things in order at the Isla, hope the road is ok for you both…. love the pups pictures.. little stinker for jumping instead of using the nice ramps you have set up for her….
    Take Care and God Bless
