Busy day!

We started our Valentine’s Day with a visit to a seahorse farm.

These are the cement tanks that grow the food for the seahorses!

It was a most interesting tour but more on that in tomorrow’s blog.  We then went for a bit of a drive around the Isla. We found this cute yellow house.  At first we stopped because of the interesting stairs….

But then we noticed that the second floor had wall to wall, ceiling to floor murals painted on the three walls.  There was no fourth wall nor a window or door.

There was no one about and the house looked deserted. I spoke with a neighbor who told us that a Mexican artist lived there.

After lunch, some reading and guitar time and a quick beach walk it was time to attend the afternoon Valentine Day tea being held next door.

It was a spontaneous decision made in the morning to have these goodies in the afternoon. I am most definitely not spontaneous enough to create something with five hours notice. I confess....I only brought store bought cookies!

So those of us in RV1 stuffed ourselves with carrot cake, banana creme pie, peach cobbler, brownies, strawberries dipped in chocolate, cupcakes and flan to name just some of the goodies.  It was the first really warm, almost hot day in a long while.

As you can see this is a very large site.  It has a palapa, is deep and extra wide.  Lots of space!

Colin and I are happy to share with you that this will be our new site here at Tres Amigos for as long as we keep coming to Mazatlan. Just think of the huge garden I will have!!

From the afternoon tea we moved on to dinner….

Eight of us enjoyed a superb dinner at Puesta del Sol here on the Isla!

I think that was the busiest February 14th I’ve had!!  I wonder what today will bring?  Sun and heat for certain…

Looks like a fun day! Our trip to Applebee’s turned into a trip to our favorite Mexican restaurant. Applebee’s was too crowded-would have to wait too long. Instead I ate carne asada at Fiesta Mexicana and dreamed of Mazatlan. One month from today!

Those stairs make my legs tingle!

What’s even more special is that the restaurant was closing as we arrived (4:30PM – but things close early here on the Isla) and they reopened the kitchen and served us royally! Only in Mexico.

One of the best things about Mexicans is how hospitable they are, especially in Mazatlan. Learning Spanish has gone slowly for me, because as a doctor met put it, “You are our guest, and we want to do everything we can to make you comfortable.” So most speak wonderful English.
