A day of contrasts
The chicken and rice just didn’t do it for her. I knew that she was hungry. In fact she still is, but once she gets her food she has a burst of energy and plays for a good 30 minutes. I decided to feed her the 6.6 ounces of canned food over three feedings as that seemed to fill her the most and the vet said that it was fine but she felt that feeding a dog just once per day was enough. Well sorry, but not my dog 🙂
The sky cleared and we had some sun and a bit of heat. It managed to get up to 53F.
A wonderful end to a very full day. You missed all the details of our very busy day but I will share that @ 5:30 PM I received an email from our accountants office that Revenue Canada was wondering why I had not paid GST ( a Federal tax ) from March till now! What the heck! Checking my files, sure enough I had not. However nor had I received the usual three month documentation that the tax was due. Not really an excuse as normally I know when it is due and am usually on top of it albeit mostly because of the mail I receive for Revenue Canada. However I was in the midst of my cancer scare in June when it was due and it September I was dealing with Carmeh’s pancreatitis. Coincidentally I had just got off the phone with Revenue Canada mere moments earlier about my Dad’s estate and the Clearance Certificate which seems to have reached a snag. So it seems that I will not be able to finalize my Dad’s estate before we leave the end of the month. It might take 5 – 7 months more. I’m sure that some of my siblings won’t be happy but I must proceed according to the law.
So as wonderful as the sunset was, my day end was not so great. In my defense all I can say is, that is why I drink wine 😯

Oh boy, the taxes up there in Canada sounds a daunting as they are here in the USA. Those babies sure are cute, and cuddly… Hope they stay healthy and surely they will improve just as soon as you get them back on the beach!!!
Kay, I think that all of us will be happier once we get back to that warm beach.
“she felt that feeding a dog just once per day was enough”
So many people think that. I know I’m not a “dog person,” but it seems so cruel to me. It’s no wonder the dog ends up scarfing down the meal — it’s hungry! I’d do like you and feed many “snacks” during the day.
Well all I can say is that I would not be happy eating just once per day.
Sure don’t miss all the taxes and paperwork that was involved with my restaurant business. Life is much simpler now.
Soon your be gone..
Yes we will soon be gone and into our winter adventure but we are always tied to our business even while in Mexico but on a slower paced level but still need to check in.
I agree that feeding a dog or cat once a day is not enough and seems harsh for the poor pet.
You will soon be on your way and we will in 3-4 weeks – the pull this time of year is great to get on the road to Mexico. Traveling mercies for both of us.
As you we are looking forward to the peace and relaxation of Mexico. Perhaps we can plan to spend a few hours together this year rather than a quick meet up.
Before I retired I use to feed my dogs once per day, after getting home in the afternoon. A year into retirement Stella is added to the crew and somewhere between her and Heidi, they decided they wanted breakfast by 8am and lunch by noon, sometimes 11am. IF I am late with lunch … Stella will start howling and that leads to Heidi barking along with her … Sadie? She runs and sits by her food dish, not saying a word.
They will not allow me to feed them just once per day!! LOL
It will not be long now until you are sitting on the beautiful beach in Mexico. I look forward to those photos, although today your photos were fantastic on this post.
Thank you for your comments. The photos in this post wrote the post so to speak. It truly was a day of contrasts.
Dogs rule!
It’s nice to reach that time of life when the govmint sends you money instead if asking for it…
Two more years Peter and we hope to be in that exact situation.
We never receive anything from the CRS unless it is bad as do online payments after a cheque got lost, then found, then they tried to cash it a year later…then they charged us a fee. Someone there thought it was post-dated so filed it for a year and deposited one year later. I had to fight and fight and fight with them to correct it. In the end paid the $20 fee to get them off my back, now it just shows as a continuous $20 credit. They are seriously deficient in so many ways.
I completely disagree with that vet – feed your animal once a day?!? My dog won’t eat kibble by itself so we have to have 2 set meals a day. Our vet suggested hand feeding 5-6 times a day which is not realistic either. I think your animal will tell you when they are hungry. Buddy comes over and puts his paws on my legs if his tummy is grumbly
I will only briefly mention that I also yesterday became involved in a battle over my Dad’s final taxes which will involve the settling of the estate until at least the spring if not longer.
I must clarify that our vet is a wonderful person and has done nothing but help our girls over their various health issues. She did make that statement about feeding once per day in relation to a recent study that showed that is was most beneficial in helping a dog loose weight quickly. I really should call her and ask how often she feeds her Whippets.
