Looking back…
…….I saw a bird drop a finger size piece of french fry ( from one of the nearby restaurants ) in our yard. This was about 3 days before Carmeh became ill. Before I could get out out of my chair and pick it up Carmeh had run over and eaten it. According to the vet we saw yesterday that would have been enough to set off her pancreatic reaction. Just a tiny amount of fat and within a few days a full blown attack of the pancreas.
So the vet we saw yesterday poked and prodded her various gut areas and declared her to be pain free. We are not out of the woods yet but Carmeh is pain free and wanting to eat. That is a major victory at this point.
We are giving her 5mg of Pepcid morning and evening which we hope is helping. She is still only getting small amounts of food throughout the day. I am trying everything I can think of to heal her for the long term and that takes a good deal of time. It might be a few weeks before she is back to her normal diet.
I am also researching how to get more Pepcid. We have no pharmacias here on the Isla so I have asked someone to check the pharmacies for me in Mazatlan. Worst case I will have to find someone to bring some pills for us from the US. I have enough for one more week.
We have still been giving Carmeh water via a syringe as she has not been drinking. Tonight for the first time she went over to the water bowl and drank 😀 We will still give her more water before bed as she is a tad dehydrated.
Poco a poco ( bit by bit ) each day is better than the last. We now have hope that she will recover from the bout of pancreatitis.
Thank you all for your get well wishes and positive thoughts.

Nice!!
Getting better is a good thing. Had a nice visit with Joseph and Suzan from Tres Amigos the other day.
Damn bird – bad enough when they poop on you but dropping french fries and making your dog sick? What terrible luck that was. Glad she is doing a bit better.
Glad to hear she is doing better.
I take Pepcid regularly and found the brand name wasn’t recognized outside of the US, but Famatodine, the compound name, was. In Rome I went to 4 Pharmacies looking for it (too much tomato sauce!) and finally asked for Famatodine, only to be give a bottle of Pepcid! Good luck to Carmeh, it is awful to have your baby sick.
So sorry to hear, hope she recovers.. Love our fur babies!
