Another night out on the town

As we left our site and headed to the panga I could see that the sunset was going to be amazing.  I took this just as we boarded the lancha.

Yes it was pretty amazing.

Spectacular.

The light was low but still an outstanding view.

We were on our way to Casa Haas, just a block off the Plazuela Machado where we were meeting long time blog readers Jenny and Brad.   We were there to listen to a classical guitar concert.

It was a free concert compliments of Cultura Mazatlan.  This was the first of three guitar concerts in a row, all direct from the Culiacan International Guitar Festival.  Colin usually attends the festival but stayed home this year.

Jaime Soria was the performer last evening.  He was very good.  The guitar he played was built in 1936.  He discovered it in Mexico City a few years ago and had to reconstruct the instrument which was a full year project. He used the same luthier that Colin did when he had his guitar refurbished.  Abel Garcia is considered the best luthier in the world.

Jamie recognized Colin from years past when they both attended the Culiacan Festival.

After the concert , the four of us headed over to La Bohemia in the Plazuela Machado for a late dinner.

We met Jenny and Brad a few years ago when they were in Mazatlan,  actually a few times over the years. One the many things we have in common is a love of all things cultural.  They have been upgraded to friends from long time blog readers.  We could have gone on and on with our conversation last evening.  However it appears that we are all retiring about the same time next summer ( except for Jenny who has been in the relaxed grove for a while now ) and it seems that we will be spending a good deal of quality time in Mazatlan come the the fall of 2018.

One of our better nights on the town 😀

That is one of the things I most admire about your lifestyle there on the Isla…the magical mix of cultural events, balanced with the laid back vibe of the beach.

You are right, it is the perfect mix. Once can choose their path of activity. Some here go into town almost everyday, not us.

  3. You guys are retiring! I have a funny feeling I will have a very hard time getting hubby to ever retire but I have decided when the time comes we will just keep upping our prices so less people can afford us and then we will have more time. Like your husband my hubby is our business so one virtually impossible to sell. We have at least another 10 years though. Absolutely beautiful sky shots.

Well we have a retirement date but that doesn’t mean that Colin isn’t going to work. He loves what he does and when an interesting photo shoot comes along he will be there.

Gorgeous sunsets! You can’t beat Mazatlan for something to do. It is so diverse and easy to get around here that no one should ever be bored no matter what their interests are.
