1942 Ford

Thank you all so very much for your kind comments on our 30th anniversary.  It really is quite a milestone and I appreciate you all being a part of it.

Last Saturday we stopped at Walmart to do some research on an iPhone for me.  The time has come for me to join everyone else in this century and get a smartphone.  I currently have no cell phone at all and is beyond time for me to have one re the ‘just in case ‘ scenario.  Also it will make traveling in Europe easier in terms of contacting our Airbnb hosts.  Those are the only reasons to get one.  I don’t intend to use data but just talk and text unless we are traveling when I will pay extra for a data package.  I am looking at an iPhone 6 which will be reissued this month.  Any thoughts on smartphone ownership’s re the yeas or nays?

This Ford was parked just across from us in the Walmart lot.

I am not a car person but I was glad to have my camera with me.

This old travel trunk was sitting in the back.

It is in immaculate condition.

It didn’t take much effort to find this obituary.  He was only 38.

It appears he liked to move.

How wonderful that his dad keeps showing his 1942 Ford.

I never knew Bobby but now I know something of his life and that he has left a legacy.  His gift to me was showing me the beauty of his old Ford and how special family can be.

He looks somewhat older than 38…To me anyways….Nice looking truck for sure…….
I got a smart phone and it is still smarter than me, glad I’ve kept my flip-phone.. Maybe I’ll figure it out someday..Good luck!

The fellow ( Bob ) in the last photo is the father of the 38 year old ( Bob or Bobby ) who died. The father has continued showing his son’s Ford and is winning prizes.

We’ve been reading and doing some hands on for 3 weeks ! too much time in fact. I think the one reason for ruling out the 6 was he screen size. I think Al needs at least a 5″……I’m still waffaling on the Moto G5. I wish the G5Plus was available in Canada.
Good luck Contessa. I’ve always used Blackberrys and really like their software.

Suzie has a new I-phone 6 and loves it small size, similar to her 4s that she had and needed replacement. Does everything she wants and we don’t use it for data either.

Happy Anniversary a little late. Jim and I have you beat by one year. 30 was really a huge milestone for us. I have a Samsung GS5 which I love. But I also live on my phone and use lots and lots of data. So I would be of no use in regards to an Iphone.

Remember the iPhone 6s, Plus have retina displays so a smaller screen (4.7) might look better than a non-retina larger screen (5.0).

If you already have a Mac and are familiar with the Apple interface, an iPhone is an easy transition to smart phones. I really like my LG G3 (using the Android operating system from Google) for its size and for the 13 megapixel camera with a laser auto focus assist beam, which focuses even in low light scenarios. I shoot photos thru the free “Open Camera” app which gives me all the functionality of a point-and-shoot camera (minus an optical zoom). You can buy them unlocked from a variety of sources.
