Going to Stone Island? Put on your Life Vest
Requiring passengers taking the pangas to Stone Island to wear life vests has been a hit or miss situation for a long time. That may be changing. The Harbor Master will be imposing fines of from 2 pesos to 8,000 pesos for failure to have passengers not wearing the required life vest. Some of the boatmen have said they daily request their passengers to wear the vest, but many refuse and they shouldn’t be penalized for that.

I am glad that they are making a decision on the the vests. Some days we were asked to wear them, other days not, but any time we were in a panga and asked to put it on everyone did. Some days even when not asked, locals did put on their vests.
What really bothered me was when the boat had already pulled away from the dock and the boatman asked us all to put on our life vests……so picture this we are now moving towards Mazatlan and suddenly half the boat stands up to get the vests off the upper racks….so the boat starts to sway as people are moving about and struggling into the vests, the boat is increasing speed….really safe, eh!!
Check out the Spanish word of the day…….I love it!! Describes me perfectly on somedays! The word is a keeper!

I love that word, too. They use it all the time for finishes like people that finish wood or floors or something. Or when you use up the last of something. One word a day makes 365 a year, not bad!
I think tomorrow we are off to Isla… we’ll be thinking of you guys.
We always wore our life jackets after the first couple of trips And always do when in small boats. Kinda makes sense to us, just like wearing a seat belt here. You are way too young to be “acabado”.
Nancy I am so jealous…..please send photos & info or do a blog on it. Hey if you go for a walk and get as far as the RV park can you check my garden, the one I moved to near the water tanks?? Of course I would be curious to see if the RV is gone or still there, re the new site. Hmmmm interesting use of the word, seems like it has more meanings than shows, I was just thinking worn out!!!
George….gracias para tu complemento! Safety is always a good idea….as you well know….I wear my seat belt….thank goodness!!!
Hey Contessa –
We were at the RV park yesterday! Plants are still there, but looking thirsty – one Rv left. The one that Ernie and Alexis are living in –
Lots of changes are happening!
LOVE your word for the day..
Mary
